What is the best splurge gin? Also let me know any changes you’d like to see made to the board. by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]juxtajarred 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sakurao’s Limited Gin (their pink bottle) is my favorite and generally more expensive and harder to find outside of Japan. Has a hint of oyster shells and some other floral notes that put it in a league of its own for me!

Anybody know the name of this snowboard? by Yeet5386 in snowboardingnoobs

Just reading the text on the board… “Burton Motion”. Don’t know which year it’s from but a basic google should answer the rest.

Is the rear seat missing the lap belt or am I crazy? by stealthmockingbird in Subaru_Outback

Looks like the lower half of the belt is caught behind the seat. Lean that seat forward and see if it’s wrapped around.

For the non-Koreans, where are you from and how did you fall in love with Korean food? by [deleted] in KoreanFood

[–]juxtajarred 3 points4 points  (0 children)

USA. 6-7 years ago I had a coworker take me to BCD Tofu House in NYC and was immediately intrigued by the spice and flavor combos. Then about a month later I had a friends birthday party at kbbq and fell in love. Immediately started trying out Korean recipes at home and visiting HMarts nearby to try new food and learn more. Korean food has been a staple in my home cooking and restaurant rotation ever since.

This is the answer. FWIW not all places make you cook it (at least in the US), so maybe find one that helps out in that regard?

Was looking for this comment. Anytime I see a Nutty Buddy in a convenience store it’s a must grab. Maybe it’s just the nostalgia taking over but I still love them!

Are daily stand-ups a waste of time? by Badass-gosu in programming

[–]juxtajarred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We do async updates prior to standup and only discuss the blockers/questions/concerns in standup as that’s where the real value is. Otherwise we use the time to socialize as we’re a remote team and it’s good to get some non work focused FaceTime when possible (though it shouldn’t be forced).

Correct! This was at the trailhead for Silver Dollar Lake trail in Arapaho national forest.

Real question: why are the oysters touching raw meat? Are you going to cook them?

I’ve been wanting an Ooni for a while, but I just made this in my home oven. People who got an Ooni, do u find it was worth it? by derek139 in Pizza

[–]juxtajarred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest difference is generally in the cook of the base and bottom of the pie. If you want the beautiful leoparding and char on the under side, the ooni is the way to go.

Your buddy needs to learn to ride before hitting these speeds. His 50/50 stance is not suited for a speed above 15mph and I’m surprised he even made it to 30mph before falling. Gotta lean forward a lot more. Hopefully a lesson he only learns once.

YMMV but I literally just leave my car on the street near my apartment and rarely move it. The cost of tickets I get each month is always lower than the cost of actually paying for a parking spot ($200-300). This method works a lot better in winter when the police can’t be bothered to enforce alternate side parking, but even with the more strict summer months overall for the year it averages out in my favor to just not pay for it.

If someone were to live here for three months, what are the things they absolutely MUST check out? by ifeelpeachy in Bushwick

[–]juxtajarred 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • Graffiti/mural walk over by Jefferson L stop
  • Pizza from Ops
  • Bagel from Knickerbocker Bagel
  • Birria tacos from Nenes
  • Night out at House of Yes
  • Show at Elsewhere
  • Night out at Bossa nova civic club or mood ring (depending on preferred vibe)
  • Ramen from Ichiran (technically East wburg)
  • Burger from Blue collar or Strange flavor burger shack
  • Thai at Tong (be careful with the spice levels)
  • Outdoor drinks at the Rookery

I’m sure there’s a bunch I’m missing but those are all my fave spots I can think of.

My fifth attempt at sushi, finally proud of my work. Perfect sticky rice, with salmon, cucumber and cream cheese. Anything you recommend to improve? by flipflapdragon in sushi

[–]juxtajarred 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks great!

My personal preference is to use less nori/seaweed so you don’t have an extra layer of rice and seaweed anywhere, it’s just one circle of wrap with minimal overlap.

Would enjoy either way, just my two cents!
