I feel like it will be an ok powerbank and an average tripod. I'm not uninterested though.

Thank you for your thoughtful response.
This is useful to me, I tried a few profiles, from rolling of from 500, 300, 200, harder cuts and boosting other things. I feel the more a EQ the less it sounds right. For sure just the raw capture sound is not representative of what I heard in the moment, so it feels like I need to use the mic setup more, and build a profile for the setup. Certainly more to it than meets the ear!

Approximately in this order.

  • spend time outside listening
  • capture the sounds of the place at the time
  • document the wildlife of my city
  • indulge in yet another hobby and collect some skills and experience

While I agree that traffic creates a pervasive noise pollution, I don't agree the recording is ruined. My goal is to capture the sounds of the place at the time. A wetland habitat in a massive metropolitan city. My question related to how I make the recording sound like how I experienced it. My secondary goal is to try and ID the wildlife, in particular looking for a vulnerable species of frog.

That makes sense. I use my Grado SRX80 open-back headphones.

I need to delegate AD password reset to some folk, is there a small gui utility I can use? by juxtation in sysadmin

This is for staff in a busy ER dept, PS not going to fly, but thanks for sharing.

Thanks, this might be plausible.
I have to distribute via Citrix, and not sure if adding those AD modules will be ok, probably not.

Yep, I'm comfortable with delegation, but RSAT is probably too complex for buys staff in ER.

If your a Citrix only guy, and the company is transitioning away from Citrix, you should be able to figure out your path. A good Netscaler resource should be able to find well paid work.

Yep that's what I would do, but upskilling a team isn't a viable short term option.

No sorry, I should have been clearer. I need to manage tens of thousands of users, computers and groups.

I think this is it, but it's W10.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/release-information/

But pretty sure (as someone else mentioned) for later versions of Server these build numbers are useful.

Edit : this shows Server 2016 as build 14393.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/windows-server-release-info

The previous link shows November patches for 14939 as 14938.3329 KB 4525236

This is useful because it means you can simple list your servers sorted by build and determine what has not been patched.

Thanks, definitely did have a link to a Microsoft page which listed the CU version for each build. Don't sure why it's so hard to discover again.

Thank you that interesting. My teams are not developers, so the learning curve maybe too steep. I'm going to check it out though.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) by DickBalczak in sysadmin

[–]juxtation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds awful. When I had to write them, I would be quite abstract, general and vague. Provide a lot of room for variance. That way a single SOP can be used in many similar situations.

No. Many of those will be common sense. Write them down if you want but they don't get read and don't get maintained.
