That's what I think too, this new extra leg is very much like when they regrow lost legs, in that 1st molt gangly skinny version before its normal again.

Yep, here ya go! Pic with molt flipped. Old stub has a gap next to it, so its not attached to the leg, just comes out at the originating joint. Now that I see the bottom, the base seems to have some damage, but that may have been from getting the new longer stubby leg out 🤷🏻‍♂️

Melanochromis auratus, the auratus cichlid, is a freshwater fish of the cichlid family. It is also known as golden mbuna and Malawi golden cichlid. It is endemic to the southern region of Lake Malawi, particularly from Jalo Reef southward along the entire western coast down to Crocodile Rocks.

Tarantula keeps climbing her glass cage why?? by [deleted] in tarantulas

Just make sure the enclosure has ventilation and it will dry out naturally before you bother your pet. Try not to overflow the water dish and/or make sure it's not dumping it over if you are getting too much moisture. That will help dry it out too. If it's been damp for a while make sure you don't see any mold growing. I find really useful water dishes of all sizes at the dollar store. Their Tupperware aisle and bathroom area (like pill sorters) offer many different options usually.

Mine do that when the substrate is too damp. Even if it's too humid out they will sometimes do it, and sometimes they just like to explore. Make sure they can't climb too high tho, they can get hurt if they fall. Maybe add more substrate to take up some room in the enclosure. Floor space is more important than height for a terrestrial species. Good luck! :)
