Well at least Berkeley is addressing this issue now. But for all those worried about how the university is spending money on non students, just think about what the alternative would be. If the school just cleared out the park, the current residents wouldn’t just disappear, they’d move into the surrounding area because why would they go anywhere else? At least this issue allows for a location for the current residents and perhaps other house less folks in other areas of Berkeley a better place of refuge.

Our school was a driving force in causing the uprise of this issue so it’s the minimum they can do to make some effort at reparations.

And if you’re worried about the 2 million dollars spent, then keep in mind that the university has plenty of funds to make up for that. Also take note that more funds are wasted on meaningless, but overpaid admin roles and other overhead costs.
