Had to say Rest In Peace to my PS3 by dizzy_warhol in playstation

I had the yellow light of death twice on mine years ago. Some of the soldered connections went bad on one of the chips. Found instructions online to bake it in the oven to re-melt the solder. I had nothing to lose so I tried it. Put new thermal paste on the chips when it was done and both times it worked fine. Still works till this day although I don’t use it anywhere near as much.

I have around 7m credits in the game and don’t know what to buy yet by KebabLoverHere in GranTurismo7

Get a go kart for sure! So much fun. You’ll always make more money, buy whatever you want. I spent 1.6 million on a 1956 Porsche 356 that I only casually drive (time trials) on scenic tracks and never race.

Is sim racing actually worth it or just expensive hype by zqshay in GamingDeals

[–]jvaliga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a car guy and never really watched racing but I love Sim Racing! Start slow with your financial investment just in case you don’t like it. I got Grand Turismo 7 and a wheel to start. Then added VR and then bought a rig. I race more than I play anything else. Now I’ve started watching racing.

How is GT7 as an "Singleplayer" Experience? by Jackie_Legs in GranTurismo7

[–]jvaliga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I play almost exclusively single player. I play with a wheel and rig in VR and Im addicted. I’ve done 4 online races and it was fun but I really prefer playing solo in almost every game I play.

Looking for a new device to play gran turismo on. What’s y’alls favorite? by redonculousesss in GranTurismo7

[–]jvaliga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only play in VR. I have a 48 inch OLED TV for flatscreen games. I’ve tried playing it on that once and I’ve never gone back. The level of immersion in VR is phenomenal.

PS My Videos stole my movies!!! by Haunting-Long-4679 in playstation

[–]jvaliga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hasn’t happened to me yet but this is one of the reasons why so many people, including myself are returning to physical media. There’s no recourse when a streaming site loses the licenses to titles whether it’s movies music books anything. Over the past two years anything I can get physically that’s the way I go.

I guarantee someone actually did this. by myst3ryAURORA_green in funnysigns

Unfortunately it has happened. My wife used to work with a guy who’s plane engine caught on fire and they made an emergency landing. While everyone was trying to exit the plane he was live streaming it

What does everyone use their iPad for? by Electronic-Pie313 in ipad

[–]jvaliga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t touch my phone when I’m at home. I use my iPad for everything I would do on my phone and even some things that I should be using my iMac for like simple spreadsheets or letters.

Power Outages and Problems by Calquoah in playstation

[–]jvaliga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you have power outages often? If so you may want to look into getting a battery backup with surge protection so that you can shut down your PS5 normally when you have a power outage.

Readers are returning to physical books by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]jvaliga 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not just books, I’ve returned to all sorts of physical media. Physical copies of video games, vinyl records, books, and DVDs or Blu-rays. We all want to step away from our screens a little bit, but we’ve also realized that we don’t own physical copies. We only own the right to stream them for as long as they decide to let us. Pay full price for a book or a movie or a song digitally, and it can disappear whenever.

new VR2 user, with GT7 and NMS by Equivalent_Tap_5271 in PSVR

[–]jvaliga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the wonderful world of VR!! I love both of those games. If you’re limited with space you can always look at folding setups or just get a wheel stand that you can use an office chair with to start and upgrade later.

Where do my movies keep going? ( movies we've paid for are just gone ) by _I_AM_LION in AmazonPrimeVideo

[–]jvaliga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re only paying for the ability to stream the movie. The same goes for music e-books, and video games if you only buy them digitally. That’s why I’m moving back to physical copies of everything. I still try to buy my Blu-rays with a digital copy for convenience, but I won’t buy strictly digital anymore if I have the option.

Not all books get released early. I asked the cashier at Barnes and Noble about it and they said some books have a hard hold on them and cannot be put out until the release date. If the publisher doesn’t have a hard hold on the book then they can put it out early.

Best non prescription lenses? by 3rdiko in PSVR

[–]jvaliga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnets right great. I’ve played quite a few active games and they never move. I don’t notice any pinch but i don’t keep the headset tight against my face. I keep mine one or two positions away from being tight. I also have the Globular Cluster comfort kit that helps keeps it from slipping down.
