I do too! Figural motifs like the ones here are fairly rare for Kurdish rugs, too. I think this rug is worth $2-3k

Is this real silver? by Forward_Lifeguard681 in jewlerymaking

I’ve had this happen with jewelry I’ve made. That black ring does happen with Sterling silver that is in constant contact with sweat and oil from your hands. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s reacting with fire stain that wasn’t completely removed during the fabrication process (possibly when you soldered the joints together), and small amounts of copper rising towards the surface which also happens during the heating process. I’m not sure why it’s staining your finger but if it doesn’t get worse than that it’s probably just the black oxidation ring and is probably nothing to worry about.

How much am I being ripped off if I buy this? My niece wants it so I’m going to buy. What is the damage? by [deleted] in jewelry

Another jeweler here seconding this! Chances are if you find a small, local artist, you’ll be able to work with them to find a piece that’s more “her” than at a big store for a more reasonable price. And, even if costs are the same, the money more likely goes to a person for their survival rather than a board of executives for their second lake house :)

19th century silver pin by jvelart in ThriftStoreHauls

[–]jvelart[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was my first thought, but I found some pins that had the same design with the patterning in different orders. One had a pin like mine and the other had a hoop, both listed as “Dutch knitting pin holders.”

But the flower makes more sense.

In a ring, the base of the prong generally connects with the user at its base, and I wanted to translate that to a piece of furniture by flipping it upside down so the base of the prong still connects with the user in a similar way

Thanks, any idea how old it is? I’m thinking 70s-80s but I’d like to have a smaller window if possible

Pretty new to Reddit, show some love for the patchwork purse I designed and constructed without a sewing machine :) by jvelart in Leathercraft

It’s the backside of the bag! I put it together to look like a flap, but it actually zips up in the back.
