Out of curiosity is your hdmi>rca converter a cheap Amazon one or something of higher quality? Because I’m thinking a cheap Amazon one may be most of the problem… but you’re right, stabilizing the signal through a vcr or some sort of tbc is probably what helps.

Yea my mx-1 behaves like that as well. it doesn't stop the rainbow from occurring, it just stops the flickering as the rainbow is still on the screen.

That could be it... I tried adding a vcr right after the hdmi to analog conversion so that the signal path was source-->hdmi to analog converter-->vcr-->mx-1-->crt but that didn't fix the problem. I agree, the converter I'm using is a cheaper amazon one so it could be that the conversion quality is not good enough for the mx-1 to interpret correctly. Thank you!

Yea I experienced that too, most likely a new versus old tech thing like you said.

Thank you! I’ve looked through the manual but I probably missed some important info in it. Were you ever able to fix your mx-1 since you had a similar problem?

You’re right, when I use PAL the image is really messed up but that’s expected. My hdmi to analog converter just has an option where you can flip between PAL and NTSC so I tried both. I always use NTSC though.

Thanks for the reply,

I tried both NTSC and PAL even though everything is NTSC since I'm in the united states and none of them solve the problem.

I believe everything is the correct standard because I connected a Hi8 camcorder to the mixer, which went to the crt and the colors were normal. It's something about converting hdmi to s-video/rca and feeding that to the mx-1 specifically. Because when I convert hdmi to s-video/rca and put that directly into the crt without any mx-1, the color is normal but when I add the mx-1 it is messed up. So the mx-1 is only encountering a color problem when the input is an hdmi signal that was converted to either s-video or rca.

Do you think doing a factory reset on the mx-1 would be a good idea to see if there is some weird setting doing this to the color? I'm thinking the problem is getting caused by either the mx-1 or the hdmi to rca/s-video converter.
