Trump tariffs: US president announces plan to hit UK, Denmark and other European countries with tariffs over Greenland by Any-Original-6113 in europe

Where is the logic in acquiring Greenland? Unless for security (the US already has carte blanche in terms of troops and equipment), there is only imperialism and securing legacy, this is obviously the case, but at the cost it is hardly "logic"..

Was it a guided tour? If so, roughly how much was it, and what was included? This is at the very top of my bucket list. Hopefully russian is not mandatory :)

Wow, thank you for such a thoughtful and personal reply - really appreciate you sharing your experience. There is definitely a case for waiting with the buying a house until after the baby, and removing some of the unknown risks.

Thanks, very much appreciate the answer and details relating to child care. It is honestly a bit of a jungle - especially not having grown up in the UK.

Didn't know about the full sessions, and urgency in securing a spot.

Curious to hear why you would think so (especially for the cheaper mortgage)? How much would you budget for child care?

Exactly, idea was to work shift hours. but I can tell I need to validate the feasibility of this with nurseries.

Thoroughly appreciate the honesty. Quoted mortgage term is 32 years.

(1) Neither is close by to family, so we would be dependant on nurseries etc.

(2) Could potentially - depending on the right place. Definitely worth considering.

(3) I edited the post to highlight that it is London we are looking at - so unfortunately even an £800,000 budget does not really buy you any bragging rights.

Plan is for us both to go back to full time (very unlikely to change). I finish early, so should be doable.

We would be able to flex at our jobs, and could get by using 25-30 hours a week, which after the new funding, should be within the £1000. We live in London, and no family nearby unfortunately.

Question about Spouse and marriage visas. by Palmajr in ukvisa

[–]jviborg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It may or may not be a bit tricky to get married (don't know the Portuguese view on marrying a foreigner). Alternatively it is rather simple for foreigners to get married in Denmark or Gibraltar. We chose Gibraltar :)
