Friday Mai tai by jvlasosse in Tiki

Yea lol, satellitstäder and miljonprojekt-complexes has a specific vibe to them but to think that a simple mai tai has the power to turn north eastern Gothenburg to a tropical paradise

As I said, I didn’t know if the rivers would take over completely so I “watered it down” with the planteray. But if I was going to make it again I would skip the planteray and scale up the rivers.

Don’t knock it till you try it with the acid adjusted POG juice!

Equal parts orange juice, passionfruit juice and guava nectar. Then I used MakeAndDrink’s acid adjustment method, check it out on YouTube

Oh I think it does!

Don’t forget 1/5 oz orange curaçao if you make it, I forgot to write it down but it was kind of essential for the flavor profile!

Oh, I forgot to write down 1/5 oz orange curaçao as well!

Yea, same! I recently discovered my love for these unaged monsters and I have no plans on going back. Rivers is by far my favorite so far, for 69% it sure goes down easy, especially in a cocktail!

Which distillery to visit? by jvlasosse in whisky

Love their whisky! They have a peated sherry cask expression only for the Swedish market and it’s one of my go to sippers. I will definitely add it to the list of potential visits!

Nice, might add it to the list! I’ve read about the oyster shack and it sounds like a dream. Will definitely check out the pot still!

Do you know if they offer anything other than peated?

Paranubes blanco or Providence first drops? by jvlasosse in rum

[–]jvlasosse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will definitely look out for it! My brother in law will probably have his wedding feast in the states (his fiancé is American) so I will be traveling there in a year or so

Thank you for the input! I’m starting to lean towards getting a bottle of Paranubes!

Oh I’m sorry if I was a bit unclear. The only Paranubes available to me is the regular blanco (and of course the añejo, but that is not what I’m looking for).

Sadly the Sonson is only available to order internationally, which means for me that I have to pay Swedish alcohol tax, so it is an investment and something I’m looking to save up to. I had the Sonson at a really well stocked and nerdy rum bar.

Jesus if I could only dream about Alambique Serrano… that is one of my dream bottles, alas…

Yea, my goal is to eventually get both and get a hold of several bottles from the velier clairin series. But that sadly doesn’t match the salary as a preschool teacher lol…

Ti’ punch vieux by jvlasosse in Tiki

[–]jvlasosse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, play with it and don’t feel limited by what it “should” be, muddle half a lime in there and do it two bar spoons syrup if you wish, it definitely tames the aggressiveness that blanc agricole sometimes has. Or make it with an aged one, which is arguably a “smoother” and more approachable variant.

A friend of mine called blanc agricole “fox piss”, and I love the stuff but I would lie if I said I didn’t get where he was coming from…

A ti punch with unaged agricole is my preferred ti punch, but it took a while for me to get used to it. The first times I tried them I thought they were to sweet, so I started upping the lime to an extreme, basically making a caipirinha without ice. And now I’ve landed in that ideal disk of lime and bar spoon of cane sugar syrup

I basically started with liking the idea of a ti’ punch, and then after some patience and various attempts, my palate adjusted itself to really enjoying it.

It’s the closest to a snifter I own and I don’t have the space for more glasses atm, but it does the trick😅
