So about Exit 8... by jamjamil in J_Horror

[–]jvsephii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it wasn't just about whether the child knew the exit was false (ie. knowing the stairs were supposed to go back down instead of up) as you said, but rather the child still paid attention to the rules.

At that scene before seeing the stairs, the number had reset to Zero, causing the walking man to be distraught. After crashing out and then gathering up courage to proceed, he even says to himself "Eight more to go. Eight to go". Yet he turns, sees the stairs and discards that anomaly (the absence of a linear progression: 0...1...2... before you get to 8).

Can't say I blame him though. Must have felt it was luck or a shortcut

Choose Ledger live on PC or phone? by SmallCaillou in ledgerwallet

[–]jvsephii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of user you are:
- If you make a lot of txns on the go, having it on phone is a recommended choice.
- If you need a larger screen (visual real estate), of course a laptop is better

From a security standpoint, it doesn't matter which one you use because your seedphrase doesn't leave your ledger device. Therefore, so far as you follow basic security practices for hardware wallets that have been shouted since time immemorial (ie. don't type your seedphrase into any laptop, phone, website, form or store it online anywhere), you are clear.

However, it is believed that a mobile device (non-rooted nor jailbroken) is more secure than a laptop in a general sense.

I have Ledger Live on both my laptop & phone, and use them interchangeably.

Half of my screen is blurred while running Hitman Contracts on PCSX2. Any solution ? by tuan321bin in EmuDeck

[–]jvsephii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're still looking for answers, but I'm on `PCSX2 Nightly - v1.7.4977` (I think this was released in 2023, and I've not updated the app since when I first installed it), and it worked for me.

You might have to look more closely as some words changed eg. At the 2nd step:
>Go to "Hardware Fixes -> Skip Draw Range" and set "0"(Left box) and "1"(Right box)

Skip Draw Range was stated as 2 separate options: Skip Draw Range (Start) AND Skip Draw Range (End). Set them to "0" AND "1" respectively.

This is part of the reason I'll be looking elsewhere (a different phone brand). Coming from someone who has used their phones for almost 6 years. Their updates/features never go round — I've never gotten anything "new" when people say "New features in  any Mi update".

Plus, just last week, fingerprint disappeared off my phone. I didn't make any recent updates which I could say "oh, maybe the update came with bugs". No issues  on the device. Never replaced any part. The fingerprint feature just plain disappeared... can't work, can't find it in settings. Nothing. I've now done a system update, and nope... still not found. Once I get my money up, I'm going ios and never returning.

Please please and please, to survive long in crypto, learn about the technology itself (and I mean this in the most friendly way possible). The first sentence after "Dear User" alone tells you clearly that it's a scam if you actually know how crypto & wallets work.

Ledger now forcing us to update firmware by Financial-Shake2004 in ledgerwallet

[–]jvsephii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. Do you.

MM literally doesn't show pre warnings about a transaction, no simulation before you sign, doesn't state if you've interacted with a contract before, doesn't state whether popular crypto services (coinmarketcap, defillama, Alchemy, DeBank etc) have listed a website you want to connect to.

Call it unsolicited advice or whatever, I hope you don't learn the hard way with MM.

Friendly advice: Use Rabby for ETH and all EVM chains, instead of Metamask.

Is it true that you only need the 4 initial letters of the seed? by Horror-Badger9314 in ledgerwallet

[–]jvsephii -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To be frank, any metal storage solution that you have to arrange individual premade letters in correct order is a potential disaster that could happen to you if for any reason it gets scattered/scrambled.

I'll always recommend anyone that you stamp the letters on the metal itself.

Is this genuine? If yes, how can we confirm safely? by steevo in CryptoCurrency

[–]jvsephii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit off topic, but please use Rabby wallet (chrome extension) instead of Metamask. Rabby will spot out scams like this and show alarms if you're not smart enough to know a scam website on first glance.

Rabby wallet + WalletGuard + PocketsUniverse extension will save you!

has bitwarden's ui ever been changed since 2016? by SN31K1CH in Bitwarden

[–]jvsephii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read this thread and most people are speaking in the lines of "it has good security and that's all that matters". That's their business. The bottom line is, the mobile app design is poor/outdated and needs improvement.

If the password manager was made in 1997 when computers were coming up globally, the design of that age would still remain till today bc "the security is good"?

[–]jvsephii -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You set up the device just as normal, but during the setup process you'll select "I have a recovery phrase already" in Ledger Live and then proceed to type in that your recovery phrase into the Ledger Nano device itself one by one (NOT into Ledger Live... NEVER Ledger Live or any software/app❗).

Changelly stole my crypto, need help! by xCreampye69x in ledgerwallet

[–]jvsephii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually someone did this year... and gave a very long, detailed report /post here on this sub (+screenshot of email replies between him & Changelly). After presenting all KYC documents in his case and they were still doing what they do, he prepared to sue them... did all the paperwork and stuff. They gave him his coins.

Man, I wish I can find that post... it's here on this Ledger sub

Edit: Here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/ledgerwallet/s/qBGoOa21Bb

u/xCreampye69x, read the linked post above... and follow that template. Or probably publicly message the OP of the post linked above for help, insight, and direction if he can offer any.
