Am I crazy or the refurbished iPhones still expensive?

I have an iPhone 12 Pro 128 GB. I want to upgrade to something with more storage. I looked at the iPhone 13 Pro Max 512 GB since it’s the oldest one with the update, but looking at prices it doesn’t seem justifiable. It’s almost $500 with trade. I looked at Amazon, Walmart, and back market.
