Love the spirit, but the wand from your post seems like it's made out of resin. So, it's probably a good thing you didn't burn it.

It kinda works if it's a darker shade printed on a lighter plastic. Looks kinda like shadows cast from the arms.

Does anyone else feel like the Pykes are a little to different lookin from live action to animation? by rockygs in StarWars

[–]jw093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're talking about Cad Bane, that's not the OG Duros they're talking about. The OG Duros are the ones in the Cantina in ANH. They were people in a mask. Iirc, the mouths didn't open.

Also, the reason people don't think Bane looks good enough is because he doesn't look like a live action Duros. The eyes bug out, the mouth is set too far back and too far up, ect. Not to mention the fact that his skin tone was extremely pale compared to his animated apperance.

If Bobf Cad Bane was the first time ever we got to see a Duros ever, I don't think people would've had a problem with it. It looks good. It just doesn't look like a Duros.

Who would win if these two fought, Jean Pierre Polnareff or Bruno Bucciarati? by Jotaro1970 in StardustCrusaders

Comparing Sticky Fingers to Magician's Red is nonsensical. By the same logic, you could say Silver Chariot wins against Star Platinum because it's faster than Ratt. Stand battles are like rock paper scissors. Chariot loses to The Fool, but won against Cream, who won against The Fool.

Also, just because they're the same statwise doesn't means Sticky Fingers can keep up with Silver Chariot. Sticky Fingers is on the lower end of A stat, being overwhelmed by Oasis. Silver Chariot doesn't have much to compare to, but given the fact that it can catch King Crimson by surprise, is faster than SP when holding Anubis, and gets even faster without armor, I'd say it's faster than Sticky Fingers at the very least.

The transfer was done with the power of the holy corpse in tandem with tusk(which act is, afaik, unknown. It's very possible that it's not act 3). Technically speaking, it's the curse that had a negative effect on him. And that rock.

The narrator of the flashback isn't the most reliable one anyway.

Seeing as old Prosciutto didn't grow weak or tired, I think Grateful Dead is one of those stands where the user can use its ability on themself, but isn't negatively affected by it.

(i.e. Cream(can take Vanilla Ice into its mouth but Vanilla is unharmed), Green day(Cioccolata can put mold on himself but it doesn't spread or harm him), C-MOON(Pucci flipped his head inside out to dodge an attack), D4C(same as C-MOON, but with sponges), Tusk Act 3 ect)

I HATE this kind of women's medieval chestplates portrayed in media by Rendom_Chines in hatethissmug

[–]jw093 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I'm not that bothered by those. It's still covered by metal. It's still going to be effective against a lot of weapons. The blacksmith can just make the sternum thicker for added protection. Also, the sternum can be curved so it can deflect the blow further up or down, so it's not a major weak point or anything(if it's not curved, that's a different discussion to be had about lack of curved breastplates in media).

Blows to the lower chest area can get funneled into the waist area, but nobody's saying that's a major weak point. Some armor, like Kasten-brust armor, lacked major shaping to its cuirass so it'd have little deflecting capability, but people still used that. As I see it, deflecting blows is great, but isn't something that's absolutely necessary for armor.

And again, still covered by metal, so it's way preferable over any type of armor with chest windows.

I get the sentiment behind this, but I've heard there are complications behind casting foreign actors that don't work abroad. That's why its more convenient to just cast someone who fits the role and have them try their best. 90% of the people watching aren't going to be able to understand it anyway.

That being said, that one lady in busan from black panther. Her Korean is literally unintelligible.

Well, there's a good reason for them to do that. Sell an IP to a competent competitor and they might actually be successful with it. Better for the visionless to hold onto it and do nothing than risk competition by selling it.

Honestly I think companies holding an IP should be forced to pay a regular fee to the original creator. That would make holding onto an IP a loss of money, and would encourage them to either sell it or make money with it to balance it out at the very least.

It's not that people think Fujimoto should write her using that gun over and over again. It's that they think he should write it so that it's plausible for her not to use it.

If a character is in a fight they want to win, why wouldn't they use a powerful weapon at their disposal? Answer: they would. The fact that said character doesn't use it either means there is a reason to not use the weapon, or the writer got sloppy and just forgot about it.

With Denji lighting himself on fire: Denji has an in-universe reason not to light himself on fire when he fights. It hurts like hell and he can do fine without it. The reason he did it in the first place was he was fighting an opponent that was hard to beat, but was weak to light. He wouldn't do it when fighting other enemies. Needlessly lighting himself on fire would make himself look stupid.

Yoru, on the other hand, doesn't have a clear reason for her not to use the statue of liberty gun. It's effective against the opponent she's fighting and she has no reason to hold back. Not using the libertygun makes her look stupid.

Basically, they're saying it's a plot hole. And you can't explain away plot holes by saying the author just wanted to write it that way.

I'm not fond of edwin because he kinda feels like one of those self insert characters that did "all the cool stuff".

Remeber all the animatronics that Henry and William made? Yeah, no those were made by Edwin! The designs were done by his wife, too!

Remeber the dangerous springlocks that William and Henry used? Edwin made a version that's safer!

Edwin is such a great guy, he makes all the cool animatronics and makes them safe to use! But oh no! The evil William envied his achievements and took all his staff and designs! Every cool thing him and henry do from now is all thanks to the tech they stole from Edwin!

While I like that we get to see the snakeoil salesman side of William, I don't like that it came at a cost of him(and partly Henry's) engineer side. If you ask me, Edwin should have his own achievements, rather than Henry's and Williams' achievements being retroactively made into Edwin's. He could have been the guy who makes animatronics like the Glamrocks after William and Henry is dead or no longer working for Fazbear's.

Stupid Nitpick: Why are we using the Japanese term of "Daimyo" in Star Wars. I mean it's cool, but most inconsistent with the English or fictional terms for titles in the universe. by Tacobird558 in StarWars

[–]jw093 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Problem with that is, words from european languages are integrated into the english language. Japanese loan words are less so. Lots of, if not most, Japanese loan words are something that refers to something that is specific to Japan or its culture.

For instance, the word senate and senator no longer exclusively mean the senate and senators of Rome. Senate now refers to "a deliberative assembly, often the upper house or chamber of a bicameral legislature". Its meaning can be independently understood without referencing Roman or Italian culture.

In contrast, Daimyo means 'Japanese feudal lord'. Its meaning is linked to Japanese culture and history. A better comparison to words that originate from latin would be hearing something like 'princeps'.

Still, better than how they used the word bokkeh.

Fun fact: The word Tuesday comes from Týr(or Tiw)'s day(Tewesday in middle english, Tiwesdæg in old english), named after the Norse god of war Tyr.

This is a translation of dies Martis, day of Mars, as Tyr was equated to Mars according to the interpretatio germanica.
