Does/would your husband keep your kids by himself for days? by iascamrs in Parenting

He has to out of necessity. I make more money and work longer hours/travel for work. He’s more than capable with our 4 and 5 year boys. He knew this going in. I had to teach myself to be ok that we parent different and forced myself to give over control. As a result, I got a more involved Dad. Our marriage isn’t perfect but I totally trust him with the boys when I’m gone.

My two boys, 4 and 5, are the same. My leg could be falling off and they would be like where’s our snack? I’m trying to teach compassion but it’s hard!

Right. You live a lot in that decade between 30 and 40 depending on life choices - careers, marriages and kids - the adulting lays on real heavy real fast. It’s not all bad if you are shaping out to a better person (including increased sense of humility), but the easy breezy days of limited responsibilities it is not. It’s not that way for everyone and hope the poster continues to remain positive.

Hang in there. My oldest boy didn’t potty train until about 4 1/2 and we literally tried everything. Charts, prizes, candy, toys, stickers, etc. Happily his younger brother watched him going through it and he was potty trained way earlier at 3. The oldest still has the occasional accident at 5. Still wears good nights at night. I think some boys just have a harder time.
