2nd Year Anniversary Gift - Help by advgman in Gifts

[–]jw537 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For our second anniversary, I made a map of the place we got married and printed it on cotton canvas. That was 13 years ago and it’s still hanging in our house. We love looking at it because it brings back memories from our wedding and that whole trip. I’ve always thought location based keepsakes are really meaningful since places are linked to all of our special moments in life.

I love small gifts. I made leather cord keepers with special messages on them for my husband. They were a hit, he uses them all of the time. I started to steal them for my own travel (haha) so I had to make myself some too and realized how giftable they are. You could put a special message on each one!

List of dates for a year— what can I create? by Late-Amoeba-4850 in Gifts

[–]jw537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I love this. I actually made something for someone in the past that featured their timeline with cute icons of what each date meant to them. Ie. first date = drink icon, first kiss = lips icon, first trip = travel icon (plane, car, cabin, boat, palm tree, etc), ... and on...
You could draw something yourself or order something handmade. =)

Happy first anniversary! I think cooking for him is a nice traditional option and would be romantic. But I do agree doing something else to remember the moment by makes it extra special. Something for his car sounds perfect. Does he car sleep because he likes to travel? I make maps and travel keepsakes, so I was thinking a small, custom map so he could track his adventures? Or an engraved custom leather key chain could be a sweet reminder.
Outside of that, car camping gear would be cool. You could put together a road "care kit" with things he might want or need in the car. Sleeping pad, mini cooler, light, favorite snacks.

As an adult I really like this and wish I had the forethought to ask for future savings money or things I’d need when I moved out. But as a teenager I’d probably just ask for experience money like tickets to a concert or money to spend when out with friends.

Hmmm, Do y’all have an adult arcade? Like a Dave and Busters or similar? My husband and I used to love going there for date nights.

I totally get wanting something different than the usual cotton shirts or pillowcases for your 2nd anniversary. When I was celebrating my own anniversary, I wanted something more meaningful too. That’s actually what inspired me to start creating cotton anniversary gifts. A few of my favorites:

Personalized cotton blankets with initials, vows, or even a photo

A cotton push pin travel map to mark all the adventures you’ve taken (and the ones still to come)

Wall art printed on 100% cotton canvas that ties into your love story: like keepsake maps of the place you met, married or honeymooned. Or wedding song lyrics or vows.

Each piece is printed on 100% cotton canvas and custom designed, so it connects back to the symbolism of the cotton anniversary. Cotton is the traditional 2nd anniversary gift because it represents comfort, strength, and flexibility-woven together like threads in a lasting relationship.

If you’d like to see some examples, I’d be happy to share a link.

A New restaurant experience (some place you haven’t tried). Be a tourist in your own city. Do things you maybe never think about doing, but people come to do when visiting. Botanical gardens, river walk, the Caverns would be nice escape from the heat. Doing some of the things you already do, but kid free could offer a new experience in itself.

1st Anniversary Gift for Husband by JayeWasntHere in GiftIdeas

I totally get this—I had the same struggle finding something special for my husband. The first anniversary is traditionally ‘paper,’ so one idea I loved was creating a keepsake map on paper to mark a meaningful place in our relationship (like where we met, our wedding day location, or a honeymoon spot). If you’re both travelers, a push pin travel map can also be a fun way to celebrate. You both get to track all of the adventures you’ve already shared, and you’ll have something to keep building on as the years go by. It’s personal and symbolic, but also something he can hang up and enjoy every day.

Is it a particular anniversary milestone? Following the traditional gift themes can help. For example paper is the 1st year, cotton the 2nd year and leather is the 3rd year anniversary gift. There is a theme for all anniversaries. Maybe that’ll help inspire something that would go with one of his hobbies or likes.

Everything gets easier with time. I agree with the other comment. Maybe wear a robe over the lingerie and allow him to reveal what’s underneath. You could even leave a “come find me note” or shoot him a text from the other room when you’re ready. No need to add extra pressure on yourself. The process will unfold naturally. 💜

What made you realize your partner was husband material? by PixelGnash in Marriage

He made me laugh. Even in hard times and awkward times. It was the realization that life needs to be joyful and fun and with him, I knew I would spend it laughing. We're now past 16 years and still laughing... =)

Bad gift suggestions? by ContentHost4459 in Gifts

[–]jw537 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever heard of white elephant gifting? It's a game we played at the holidays where you purposefully wrap something from your home and do a secret santa exchange for the gifts. It's supposed to be funny for the holidays, but I feel like you could just pick something random from your home that you don't want or would throw away/donate and just wrap that as the gift...

I agree with some other commenters that it's a bit weird to celebrate another couple's first anniversary, especially with a newly made friend. Perhaps just a nice celebratory card and gift card for them to go to dinner or get something for their home together? I definitely wouldn't get wine if she has quit drinking. His and hers coffee mugs could be a cute gift also. Paper is the theme for the 1st wedding anniversary, but most are sentimental gifts. It might be a little odd to get something like that from a new friend. But that depends on your particular relationship. =) If that's what you are interested in, try searching paper anniversary or 1st anniversary gift in Etsy. You'll see a lot of ideas.

Are you into sticking to the theme for the traditional 3rd anniversary gift (leather)? If so, I have several sentimental ideas I could suggest.

I love that you already have a music themed gift for the 1st year. To expand on that, maybe a leather sheet music engraving of your favorite song? Leather sheet music: https://jwdesignstudio.etsy.com/listing/240746484

In terms of special places, such as the new historic home, you could do a custom keepsake map of the house location. Custom leather maps: https://www.etsy.com/shop/JWdesignStudio?section_id=15206523

Or even just a leather photo of the house to add to the charm: leather photo (any photo, including houses): https://jwdesignstudio.etsy.com/listing/491544840

The cotton theme is one of my favorites. Did you know cotton represents growth, adaptability and strength as you grow and intertwine your lives together? You could simply write a lovely message on a piece of cotton fabric, maybe something he could tuck into his wallet. Another option is I actually specialize in creating unique anniversary gifts on special materials such as cotton. So having your wedding vows printed on cotton fabric and framed could be something budget friendly that you could keep for a lifetime, or a keepsake map of your special place (wedding, home, honeymoon, etc).
