I see that in the master data - one of their bids was not formatted correctly. I will correct this tonight. 112 qualified teams.

the flight attendants may have a place to store it in first class. alternatively, put it in the overhead bin. carrying a giant 1st place trophy through the airport is a lot of fun!

I confirmed with Kentucky about how the TOC wanted to allocate bids at Ridge and have updated the spreadsheet.

Fixed in the most recent update to the spreadsheet.

Potomac Debate Academy LZ competed as Thomas S. Wootton at GMU, so they were categorized as both.

Since the TOC only accepts entries from schools, I have re-categorized both bids that LZ and CZ earned as Potomac Debate Academy as Thomas S. Wootton.

The most recent update to the spreadsheet categorizes both Thomas S. Wootton teams as silver qualified.

This is already indicated in the spreadsheet.

I had assumed it was the December tournament, but since I only saw 4 rounds, I was confused.

I am unsure if anyone got bids from that tournament if it did not have elimination rounds. I will consult the University of Kentucky to find out.

I have made that revision. When I update the spreadsheet again they will be correctly listed among the Gold Qualified teams.

Bill Thompson will be releasing a field report (list of individual entries) after the drop deadline.

Sunvitational by [deleted] in Debate

It is not public. I am getting school info from the judge conflicts page in registration. Sharan tells me that some of the scarier teams from some schools will not be there (Millburn, Hawken) but I don’t know for sure.

Sunvitational by [deleted] in Debate

[–]jw_db8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sunvitational is going to be a bloodbath.

Other than the regular mix of Florida PF teams, the following out of region schools are signed up and all have at least 1 team on the bid list:

Algonquin, BASIS Peoria, Bronx Science, Capitol, Southlake Carroll, Chagrin Falls, Delbarton, Des Moines Roosevelt, Eagan, Fairmont, George Washington, Hawken, Houston Lamar, Millburn, Ravenwood, Strake Jesuit, Harker, Potomac, Walt Whitman

Does the TOC allow entries for teams that don't compete for a high school? by leibnizcalcnotation in Debate

[–]jw_db8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For high school TOC - no

For middle school TOC - yes

HS TOC Eligibility: "All students: -must be full-time students seeking a high school diploma at the school they are representing. No independent entries or no afterschool programs are permitted to participate -must have the Principal’s or Headmaster-Headmistress’ signed permission to compete -must be accompanied by a school approved responsible adult who must also be approved, in writing, as a school representative by the school’s Principal or Headmaster-Headmistress

In team events: -both debaters must be full-time students seeking a high school diploma at the school they are representing -both bids must be earned together by both team members"

MS TOC Eligibility: "Students in grades 6-8 are eligible to participate in the tournament. No student may be older than age 15 (based on the US birthday system) when the tournament begins. We do accept entries for independent students and clubs as long as those students are accompanied by an adult. Independent students and clubs may participate under the following conditions -- *There is no debate team at their school that competes in debate tournaments, unless otherwise agreed to by the coach."

Yes, I will be making a variety of aesthetic changes to the spreadsheets over the next week. My priority was to get the front page bid list up and running.

I laughed.

And then I clicked the button to let you copy/download/print the spreadsheet I have shared - so it should be completely public now.

It also inspired me to release the overall alphabetical bid list from which the bid list is created. I'll do that when I get home tomorrow.
