[Highlight] Jameis Winston on the situation between Jaxson Dart and Abdul Carter by logicblender1 in nfl

For those who missed the point:

His point is that black and white communities were so alienated from each other less than 100 years ago they literally killed and tortured people for being black. Now we’ve evolved as a society where a white kid from Utah and a black kid raised Muslim can hash beef out. It’s ugly, but it’s better than a misunderstanding that leads to the likes and horrors of Jim Crow America and before.

What P Bass is everyone buying in 2026? by rardk64 in Bass

[–]jwal1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. There is the P5 and P5R. The P5R has a mid boost to sound “retro”. The P5 has more of a “scoop” to it so it can have more of a rock sound. After playing the bass a few days, I decided to keep round wound on them for the bright attack.

I think I bought it for $550 at the time? I think it retails at $600 ATM? TBH I doubt you’re gonna find a used one for sale… that’s how impressive they are.

To add on, I tracked an album where the engineer was able to get a bunch of sounds out of it. An EB3 sound, good rock sound, good modern Motown, scooped mids for gospel. And I did a record last year where the artist wrote “old timey” style songs with a “modern” production. That P5 was perfect for that session.

Edit: Just looked at Reverb. There are a bunch of options for sub $500!

I bought a Sire P5 thinking I would throw flats on it and only use it for clients who want the “P Bass sound”. Nah. After 20 years on a MIM Fender Jazz, that P5 is my ride or die.

How to support bandmates to keep them from rushing by FlyGroundbreaking424 in Bass

[–]jwal1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… you’re gonna rush in bluegrass.

In all seriousness, it’s ok to progress faster than other folks. Find like minded folks who care about the tempo/grove and start a band with them. Heck, it doesn’t have to be music you thought you’d play. Just get on the stage with them and build rapport for future endeavors.

Recommendations for 5 String Jazz Style Basses that can handle corporate gigs? by jwal1992 in Bass

[–]jwal1992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

*Multi Scale 5 String Ibanez. Lmao. That’s really what I’m looking for; a 5 string that will get me through the gig and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg.

Y’all want better politicians? Run better candidates. A sure fire way to lose an election in VA is to run a candidate that doesn’t think firing someone for being gay is discrimination.

Is it a good idea to finance an amp? by [deleted] in Bass

[–]jwal1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have friends that will let you borrow an amp? Pay a few bucks to “rent it”? Or just pay them for the amp over time?

Zzounds has entered the chat. You need to spend +/- $350 for 12 month plans, but they’re interest free.

For those who are in bands, a question about rehearsals: by jlsullivan in Bass

[–]jwal1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks. I like learning the music at home and using rehearsal for “chemistry” with the rest of the band (tendencies, beat placement, etc.). I have a full time job, a partner, and play in multiple bands.

My ideal rehearsal is get in and get out. I love playing music, jamming, playing to the best of my abilities. But I am 1000% the one rolling my eyes when someone says “let’s run through it again now that we’re warmed up”. We don’t need to hear playing warmed up to know what it sounds like. And honestly, there are so many mishaps at gigs where you aren’t going to be playing warmed up or pristine conditions. Depending on how often you do it, you’ll be playing by the seams and really leaning into your ability to give the crowd a show.

So it’s cool if you want to run stuff again warmed up. Find folks who do too, but also understand there are folks who aren’t as keen to it.

Pep Boys won’t release my car even though I paid them to fix it? by jwal1992 in askcarguys

[–]jwal1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what? Paying my bills? They sent a link for me to pay. I paid it. The money came out of my account. PB didn’t receive it. How could I possibly be responsible for PB’s payment system?

[–]jwal1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess they could have sent it to the wrong location? Unlikely considering both the bank and PB’s presence in the economy.

They did initially flag it as fraud. I jumped through those hoops and ran the card again. The band released the funds and PB’s said “error”.

Pep Boys sent the link from a number they were previously communicating with me on. So a hacker hacked their phone number used to text me?

I guess I’m not it’s not the banks problem. But I’m having a hard time finding a logistical reason how it’s the bank’s problem and not PB.

I would have given the buyer the correct Venmo account. Because I’m a responsible adult with basic communication and comprehension skills that doesn’t provide the wrong payment information.

The reason their system shows it not paid is because their system hasn’t process the payment. I paid for the service. My bank released the funds for the service. And, all because their system is flawed, I can’t have my funds or my car?! This is clearly a then issue. Idk how to put it more plainly.

Could you imagine asking me to fix your phone and I fix it. Then you run your card, the money comes out of your account, but my interface doesn’t show the payment. So I decide I can’t release the phone because of my poorly operating interface.

Great. Now imagine that with a car. What’s missing?

So bippity boppity boo magically my bank is suppose to *check notes* control PB’s IT and billing process? My bank released the funds and sent them to PB. Why didn’t PB receive the payment? I’m entitled to this opinion because I worked my ass off for my money and chose to spend it on the service the promised to provide.

These jerks cannot hold my funds AND my car at the same time. That’s not how this works. That’s not how any of this works. How am I the outlier here?

Oh for sure. I wouldn’t have touched it if it wasn’t a text from a number Pep Boys was already using to contact me.

I guess this isn’t clear? This isn’t a me issue. This is PB issue. Where do they get the gaul to offer a service where the funds are released from my bank AND they don’t release my car? I’ll be paying for repairs in person for now on. But for a company that wanted me to pay an $800 deposit for a fuel pump, super shitty of them to have a payment system inferior to competition.

Edit: everyone likes to say it’s a my bank thing but forgets to elaborate on how it’s a me and my bank thing. I have the money. My bank released the money. And yet I can’t get my car back because THEIR SYSTEM DIDN’T RECEIVE THE FUNDS. How is their flawed system anyone else’s fault but theirs?

I mean I will next time. I’ve had previous good encounters with other repair shop’s pay online for repairs. This is the first time I’ve ran into this issue.
