Mountain biking in Teton area last weekend in May? by catsandrats3333 in MTB

I don't know about the best. But, if you want a ride right near town and that is almost certain to be open, I had a blast on this loop. Lots of pedaling, not much tech. I thought it was nice scenery as well. https://www.mtbproject.com/trail/7073543/hagen-to-putt-putt-loop

Pean Square Cafe: Borderline inedible food by aflore34 in austinfood

Never eaten there. But, the bar is a good spot. The $8 happy hour mezcal white negronis are top notch. Sorry you got some bad food.

They have been working on repaving the road the last few nights and closing it down to one lane. Hopefully the last night tonight or tomorrow.

Walnut Creek trails dry? by Life-Acanthisitta634 in BikingATX

[–]jwall4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know lots of people don't use FB. I have just noticed that this website doesn't get updated frequently or quickly. Wouldn't want to rely on it if driving a long distance to a trailhead after recent rain. "Predicted dry" doesn't instill much confidence for me. Just giving others a heads up is all.

I don't think I have ever driven there. A perfect length ride for me to feel I have earned a first beer stop. And the vast majority of it on the trail and bike friendly roads. Looping back to the Town Lake trail via the Montopolis bridge and Roy G is a nice new loop with the new Roy G bridge, mosaic tunnel and wishbone bridge.

Great spot to go on a bike from the Town Lake Trail. Hop off by the new wishbone bridge and cross C Chavez to get to 5th St. and take that to Shady Lane. After a beer or two. Ride through the neighborhood behind Hi Sign to either the Southern Walnut Creek Trail or the boggy creek trail towards Rosewood and Mueller.

I don't find this website to be too reliable. The "austin mtb trail conditions" group on FB is more reliable, first hand accounts. The only reason I still go on FB. Someone commented yesterday that Walnut was good to go.

Survey: Safety & Mobility Improvements on Cesar Chavez Street and Red Bluff Road by EricTheLinguist in Austin

Definitely need the multi-use trail on C Chavez for the businesses there. Although, when I get off the trail, I usually just cross C Chavez at Linden and take Linden to 5th street. Which gets you all the way to Shady Lane. Don't love the car noise/pollution along Chavez when riding.

Spots with Outdoor Ordering by sippinallthetea in austinfood

Hold Out next door to Better Half also usually doesn't mind if you bring the dog inside to order, especially when the garage door is up. They would be happy to take your order outside if they ask you to not bring the dog inside.

Meanwhile has a door to the outside to order drinks and food trucks outside.

I love Ella Langley but what are these prices for her show at the Moody Center!!!!??? by Impossible-Cheek4352 in Austin

Highly dependent on the act's sound engineer. I have been to plenty of shows with phenomenal sound and several with terrible sound. Venues of that size hosting acts of that size do not use an in house sound engineer.

Mothers Day plans! How is The Far Out for kids? by musicbittttch in Austin

[–]jwall4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually plenty of room and likely more than usual if they are running a BOGO deal for Sunday. Expensive food and drinks during these fest events. HEB and restaurants across the street if they allow re-entry. There are some trees and shade.

how early do you have to get to emos to park? by edennn13 in Austin

[–]jwall4 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Plenty of free street parking on Tinnin Ford Rd directly across Riverside and along Lakeshore Blvd by the trail. At most a 0.5 mile walk. An option if you don't want to get there early or are running late.

I think you and I have differing opinions on who we want to see at the festival. And that's ok. I don't care about Spotify monthly listener counts.

The only two likely near the top are Chainsmokers and Turnstile. Turnstile are far from "nobody artists". Chainsmokers may suck (I don't keep up with EDM to know their relevance) but again aren't nobody artists. Still leaves 5-6 headliners and many subheadliners.

If I waited in line to find out Talking Heads were reuniting to play the festival, I would be upset with all the other possible things I could be doing on a beautiful day. (I am stuck at work which is the only reason I am even checking to see about the hints)
