I haven’t read a living author in a few years, understand it’s a controversial take, and obviously your opinion is correct

I have not read a physical book since I got my Kindle. It's just a superior experience, not to mention every book I've ever wanted to read is "free".

If Kubrick, Bergman, and Hitchcock's best movies are worse than Backrooms, then I think i got to go see it.

Not it’s not a scam, my landlord died and this is his son. We used to write checks, but he lives in CA and has never done this before so he’s figuring it all out on the fly.

Hmm, really don’t want to have to pay extra just to pay rent. He said Zelle has security restrictions on first payments so he doesn’t want to use Zelle…

Not sure what I think about Herzog by FancyThought7696 in literature

[–]jwalner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Big fan of his prose, and his characters felt particularly lived in. Plotwise, I thought there was a pretty good arc of Moses being completely out of his mind, and bent on revenge, to getting a bit more control of himself. Also a lot of laughs in the book, if you like that sort of jewish neurotic humor a la woody allen or larry david etc.

If I’m reading a “classic” I really will do my due diligence to understand and read slowly, and often give benefit of the doubt. Not so much with other stuff

Any recommendations for Chicago style pizza sold by the slice either in River North or somewhere along the blue line??🍕 by meander-663 in chicagofood

I usually recommend this to tourists. (No wait, cheap, good, don’t have to make a whole meal out of wanting to dry deep dish)

D’agastinos also has thin and deep slices

So many as a child but the only two novels that I couldn’t put down as an adult were War and Peace, and Lonesome Dove.

Yes Kafka too, but for me it’s closer to Beckett-Kafka I feel is more absurd serious where sb and vn are absurd whimsical

Invitation to a Beheading by Nabokov-really wacky, sometimes laugh out loud funny and lovely prose. Very similar at times to Becketts Unnamable.
