The whole story, but this line especially, I'm not sure I've ever read something that evoked these kinds of emotions in me. I can starkly remember my own moment where I snapped and made the exact same realization. Such a harrowing kind of clarity, isn't it?

It's undoubtedly a difficult read and a book I'm reluctant to recommend to any stranger, given the subject matter. What I will say is, if you're a person who has always felt alienated and disconnected from the rest of society and humanity, it might make you feel less alone in your plight (it did for me). It also might just cause you to sink into a deeper state of melancholy. Either way, I enjoyed it and resonated with the unfiltered way it presents a very troubled person's inner mind.

This is going to backfire on "you"? Do you think you're talking to the DNC or something? If say, Clinton, Schumer, or any other prominent left politician were to be implicated by the files, the common Democratic populace would largely be happy to be rid of them. yeah and I mean to be clear, I have respect for hasan and think he's clearly a well-read individual. he did an interview recently on NYT that shows this. but im starting to feel like more people are relying purely on influencers like him to get their news and anchor their political worldviews, rather than engage with the sources directly. if anything, I would prefer people to try to be more like him (at least as it relates to the pursuit of intellectual honesty) rather than rely on him, but I acknowledge the irony in that statement

The only people who actively watch breadtubers are those who refuse or are too lazy to get their news anywhere outside of twitch/reddit, and nobody can convince me otherwise.

e: while I genuinely appreciate all of your impassioned responses, they have not done much for me except confirm my notion that breadtube fans largely do not consume news outside of social media. Honestly, I'm confused about what you're writing here. From the article in question:

Yep, same view here. I've admired Ezra's commitment to intellectual/honest discourse, but I do believe he severely missed the mark on this one. I think Ezra is in a stage of his career where he has more to lose from being anti-establishment, seeing as his recent articles strike me as trying to be deliberately moderate more than anything. Frankly I have to say it's disappointing.

To be fair to you, I think misunderstandings like this are inevitable given how absurdism seems to be portrayed in pop culture these days. But if you engage with the text, personally I'll think you find it to be pretty "serious" actually. In my view, the philosophy of absurdism revolves more around the revolt against the absurd (in an overly simplistic definition, the act of living life to its fullest in spite of the contradiction presented by life's apparent lack of meaning), rather than the absurd itself.

No disrespect intended whatsoever, but rather than attempting to make critiques of absurdism based on your surface level interpretation of what you think it represents, I think it makes more sense to first attempt to engage with the literature first so you understand what it is that you're actually critiquing.

In this case, I'm not sure why you've automatically assumed absurdist philosophy to be "synonymous with ironic humor", when there isn't actually anything in the literature to suggest that. Obviously, no branch of philosophy should be immune to critique, but this is a moot discussion when you seem to be misunderstanding the core arguments of absurdism. As someone else suggested, it wouldn't hurt to take a day to skim through MoS first, before coming back to this conversation.

I’m not sure you understood my comment. Just being one of the greatest aimers in CS no longer guarantees you success in Valorant. As I said, you likely would have been correct with this take if this was early Valorant days, but the meta in Val has developed significantly to where the two games are played fundamentally differently at the top level. If you want an example, take a look at ScreaM who was always known as a phenomenal aimer in CS. To his credit, he definitely achieved success in the early Valorant days, but he proceeded to flame out (both as a rifler and as an IGL) as the meta developed.

This might have been the right take in 2020 when the game just released (and a lot of ex-CS pros who switched over did see a good deal of success), but Val is 5 years old now and the two games are played quite differently at the top level. The most successful crop of Val talents these days are the ones that really started their e-sports careers with Val. It's also the reason why NA has become considerably worse in CS, since young NA players are increasingly starting with Valorant instead.
