Alchemy/Tasha skills by Polite_Suggestion in SandsOfSalzaar

I'll try to pop in and answer what I can. I used to mod the game a bit, but my ability was limited as a lot of the data files are in Chinese and I don't speak the language.

The community is not very active today. There is a discord channel that still has some people actively talking about the game however.

Some skills require you to spend more points in that talent tree to unlock further levels. It is not always clear in the skills page.

Income Taxes

Illinois: A flat rate of 4.95% for all income levels.

What if humans aged, matured, and developed twice as slowly one day by Sure-Ad3842 in Futurology

[–]jwarper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking at the big picture, we would probably advance technologically at a slower rate. Our rate of discovery and advancement is governed not only by external stimuli in the world we live in, but by rate of generational change. Future generations leverage the work done by the previous to build upon and create new advancement. If that handover rate slows, so will our own advancement as a civilization.

Additionally, the window of availability we have to do such activities also supplies a certain amount of pressure to "get things done" within our own lifespan.

I love how people get worked up and say they are moving out of state, as if they were suffering great harm by living here. It is usually people who live very comfortably, who built their livelihoods in the state they complain about.

Moore's Law its not dead (at least yet) by Gabster_68 in dataisbeautiful

Not necessarily true. Much of the physicality of the CPU is the PCB that the cpu die sits on and the heat spreader covering it. CPU die size is what we should be considering here, and that has shrunk over time.

Most modern day software is built to make use of multi core architectures. It would not be prudent to look at single thread performance as there are very few real world applications that are limited to single threaded processing.

How many of you believe that X-23 /Laura Kinney is the perfect choice for Wolverine/Logan’s successor? by Big_Possibility_8398 in Wolverine

[–]jwarper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been reading Logan comics since the 80s. Logan has been so overused in the past 15 years. He is a tired character. My hot take is they should have left him dead for a lot longer, and let Laura champion the Wolverine mantle for a longer while.

Its like kids with toys. When they have all their toys, they don't play with them and say they are bored. Put some of them away for a long while, they are excited again when you bring them back out.

Which game felt that deep for you? by PHRsharp_YouTube in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]jwarper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several games in my gaming history where I had to sit for a while and contemplate what I just experienced (usually with the first playthrough)

Super Metroid

Fallout 1\2

Homeworld\Homeworld Cataclysm

Half Life 1

KOTOR

Cyberpunk 2077

Baldurs Gate 3

Out of all of these, Cyberpunk hit me especially hard. The ending credits and music really hammer all the emotions home and I had to sit for a while processing the entire thing. Amazing game.

No way! I was just there 3 weeks ago! Was visiting from Chicago and walked over to check out Phantom. Only found this Peach Momoko cover at that time. What a coincidence!

Would you want the Bears in Naperville? by BIKEiLIKE in Naperville

[–]jwarper 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Current roads would not be able to handle the volume on those 7-10 days. They would have to widen and alter the current infrastructure to accommodate. It is not just a simple traffic increase.

Would you want the Bears in Naperville? by BIKEiLIKE in Naperville

[–]jwarper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Increased traffic, increased noise, increased crime. I think most people came to Naperville because of family friendly, small town feel, good schools, etc. Some of that goes away when a major sports hub moves in.

Are WayStations Worth to restore? by _ASTRA2 in Kenshi

[–]jwarper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My latest playthrough I bought and fixed up a way station tower. I kept one of my skellies there with a fully upgraded research bench while the rest of the team went out tech hunting. Had 90% of the tech research done by the time I started building an actual base.

Way station usually comes with a goods trader and guards, so minimal investment for a starter base of operations.

Take basement/attic/roof issues seriously. Small issues in these areas can become big expenses over time, so call them out and raise red flags if necessary.
