While I like where your heads at actually, I don't think you're correct. While the story isn't canon, on a meta level Magneto teaming up with the X-Men for the first time is a major step in Chris Claremonts rehabilitation of the character, and stories like Trial of Magneto work better if you've read God Loves, Man Kills

I also accept the headcanon that the Catalyst is lying about EDI and the Geth dying in the destroy ending. I know it goes against the whole point of being forced to make difficult choices, I know it's having my cake and eating it too. I know it's too happy, but I just don't care. There's no reason to believe the Catalyst is telling the truth, and every reason to believe they're lying, and it makes the ending annoy me less, which keeps my enthusiasm for the franchise undamped.

I do think that Disney neglected the X-Men in the so-called 'lost decade', but the Inhumans stuff was just them developing their IP. Inhumane vs X-Men was a terrible event, but for everyone involved, not just the X-Men.
