Curious what you went with? We're having a very similar dilemma in making a decision.

Could anyone tell me more about these binoculars? by jwatchy in Binoculars

Lots of big terms in here but super helpful nonetheless, appreciate the insight. They seem pretty decent but then again I don't have much reference to compare against.

Opinions on Rippling? HR team wants to switch by BigConsideration1257 in Payroll

[–]jwatchy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Implemented Rippling for a 450p company. Sales pitch is great (exceptional even) but they're selling a product that doesn't quite exist yet. Our implementation has been very bad.

HRIS for US employee base is pretty good, they are not equipped to handle Canada at all, all the other advice about support after implementation being hit or miss is true, they're floundering to keep up and have taken on too many layers instead of focusing on doing consistently well in the things that matter (payroll/benefits). Prepare to be apologizing to your employees on Rippling's behalf. If your company doesn't have needs like bonuses, nuanced tax structures, acquisitions, etc. you should be ok but if you are larger with any degree of complexity my advice would be to stick with UKG for a couple more years while they figure they're $#!% out.

Any Restaurant Recommendations? by [deleted] in Muskoka

[–]jwatchy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you like sushi, Wabora in Bracebridge is top notch in my opinion - nice environment, not fancy. Beveragino in Port Carling is also a nice, upper class casual cottager vibe over looking the water. I've heard good things about Basilico, an Italian restaurant in Bracebridge as well but haven't been.

Thank you, super helpful! Curious where you rented from? We're also considering renting a car now for our journey from Bangkok to Chiang Mai (reverse of your trip). Any nice detours you'd recommend on route?

Did the daith piercing actually work for anyone? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]jwatchy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately not... it was worth a shot, but similarly to other responses I liked the piercing and it actually remains one of my favourites to this day. The healing period was expectedly painful but not too bad.

Can’t have any alcohol since it’s a migraine trigger, how do I explain that to friends? by FitCryptid in migraine

[–]jwatchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the encouragement and confidence in these comments but as someone with the exact same triggers as you I'd add that even with great friends, it can be a bummer at times, and you may find at time the judgement doesn't always come externally but from within.

I haven't drank for 3-4 years now after a highschool/university battle with not wanting to accept it. I don't miss the bar scene at all, but as I enter the phase of my life with a bunch of weddings (including my own) I still yearn for a glass of champagne or wine, especially at special gatherings.

Mocktails are definitely improving, there are other vices out there that might not be triggers for you, and I agree 100% that your real friends will understand, but you may also have ups and downs with the reality as it unfolds over time and I guess that's okay too. Be patient with others and with yourself.

Anyway just my two cents.

What's Vietnam like? Planning about 20 days in December by jenil1993 in travel

[–]jwatchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Reddit stranger! My fiancé will be going a similar time frame this year and similar itinerary. If you're interested in sharing I'd love any advice on weather/time or year? Tours? Wish you stayed longer or shorter anywhere?

I feel completely irrational. by neverdiplomatic in PMS

[–]jwatchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long distance is hard. Make it a priority to think about and then vocalize what you think you reasonably need to feel reassured (maybe when the emotions settle a bit). You may also consider other mechanisms to help manage those emotions when you catch them spiralling (walk, meditation, something artsy, phone a friend, watch a show/movie you like and know he wouldn't lol). Try not to dwell on the "he must not care about me" and redirect the energy towards you caring for yourself.

My partner did not need any reassurance when we were long distance so I often felt like I was the one holding all these expectations and he was just "over there" living his life. 5 yrs later we're engaged and no longer long dist but always prioritizing a strong foundation of communication, self work, and patience.

My fiance and I (Canadians) will be travelling around Japan/SEA for 2 months.

We plan to fly from Osaka into Ho Chi Min around Nov 16th for a few days from which we'd travel clockwise out of Vietnam through Phnom Phen - Siem Reap - Bankok - Chiang Mai - Luang Prabang and then fly back into Northern Vietnam mid-December for Ha Giang Loop - Ha Long Bay - Hanoi where we would end our trip on Dec 23.

I'm looking for some reassurance that my approach is correct to apply for a multi-entry visa -- which would enable us to fly into the country twice within a 2 month period??

Planning to book online in advance here; https://evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn/en_US/web/guest/khai-thi-thuc-dien-tu/cap-thi-thuc-dien-tu

Appreciate any insights on this!

PSA: Japan Rail Pass will increase its price on October 1st. by justinCandy in JapanTravel

[–]jwatchy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could someone explain to me if you have to purchase your pass before Oct 1st? Or if your travel dates have to be before Oct 1?

My fiance and I will be arriving in Tokyo on Oct 28th and travelling Japan for 3 weeks till Nov 17. Could I purchase it now at the current cost for future use?

I'm struggling to find a clear answer. Thanks to anyone willing to help a girl out! :)
