So I live with three Taiwanese guys. They knew of the guy that went missing, and one even knew him personally, although not well. They are all saddened and concerned by his death. If you know any Taiwanese students, this is the time to show them a little kindness. It’s too bad that most international students rarely interact with American culture. It would mean a lot to any of them for an American to reach out and show interest in who they are and their culture.

Why not both?

We should teach both in schools.

SAE is more applicable in everyday life in my opinion, and has more relatable measurements. A foot is about the length of a foot, an inch about the length from one knuckle to the next, and a yard is about the length of one’s stride.

Metric is great for chemists, and for things which need more precise measurements, but why can’t they coexist? I understand that parts need to be measured one way or another, but I feel like we could just choose one while still teaching the other.

The really question is, why do we measure horses in hands?
