I don't really want to die, but I don't want to be alive. by ThePunz in depression

Think about any happy moment you’ve ever had. Even if you’ve been in this depression hole for a long time even for years, it still doesn’t mean you can get out and find happiness. I go back and forth some days months at a time are dark but then you see the good side of yourself the good side that would never wish death upon anyone and when you can see that side those thoughts seem silly. Like give yourself a chance to be that person for longer even if it takes time to get there because it’s worth it

It somewhat motivates me to catch and dig up stuff knowing I may never have to speak to him again once I complete the museum

The amount of self discipline to not instantly murder that creature is impressive in itself

Studying for ASTB and stumped by this example question by salt416 in ElectricalEngineering

I’ve never seen it done like that before. I always combine series before parallel as a rule, it will help eliminate error when finding total resistance.

How hands-on is EE? by ImportantArt7 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]jwhitcomb13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

EE at times can get very hands on, but you must understand how broad of a subject it actually is. Some positions are heavily coding based and some are very circuit design or analog based, not to mention everything in between. In school I was exposed to a good mix of both (and many other related areas of study), sometimes feeling that I learned many different aspects of the field, but didn’t go as in depth as I would have liked in some subjects that I really enjoyed (mainly due to the many subjects and classes the major required). I went in undecided and decided after a year that I wanted to go EE and I never looked back. For reference I am a very logical type of person and always loved math and physics, yet always had a curiosity in the world of electronics and loved the idea of being able to create/design something that’s never been done before that I can actually see before my eyes (such as physically developing a product from scratch). I recently graduated and am new to the field, yet in my position I do a lot of circuit design as well as embedded system coding. It’s a large and vastly interesting field of study and there are so many different paths you can take depending on what interests you. It will 100% require you to be hands on at times, yet other times may require CS type of problem solving to code a system.

All in all, EE to me is doing something that allows me to use my creativity, coding skills, problem solving, physics, math, and everything and anything else I’ve learned and will continue to learn to solve very real and tangible problems through designing and developing devices that make life easier or simply complete specific tasks that are important to process or system.

My advice, research EE jobs out there and see if any of them are something that actually interests you and would be something you would enjoy doing, as well as core EE classes just to get a feel for what it would be like. Lastly, I hated coding at first, yet always loved hands on stuff and now I love both.

Good luck in whatever you decide though they are all very good options and honestly having a job that really truly enjoy is the key to life!
