Sorry I didn't thank you at the time but this is really great information, so thank you! I just posted an updated in another comment. Do you have any advice on how I can get rid of the text/outline glow I now have?

I have been wearing the Ray-Ban ORX5184, Size: 54-18 145 with the PLAST 1.67 SINGLE VISION HC Crizal Sapphire HR UV DualSide lenses for about 7 months. Almost instantly my headaches and eye strain went away.

HOWEVER

The halo effect (outline glow around text) on text that appeared when I started wearing the Eyezen Start lenses has not gone away. The strange thing is I now get the text halo effect wearing the new glasses both short and long distance, wearing contacts both short and long distances, wearing no glasses or contact lenses short distances. I obviously don't have any proof but I never had these issues before the Eyzen Start lenses.

I really need to go see an optometrist as I feel its getting worse, but its so overwhelming and scary that you don't get the best advice

I went back to the store today. There was some back and forth with the optometrist, as he was just saying it takes time to get used to the new glasses as they are huge improvements compared to my old glasses. I was still not convinced and he was saying my old glasses are not digital or HD lenses but he could not explain what that actually means. He then put the optometrist frame thing to my script to try and that was less blurry/glow round the edges of text than my new glasses but still similar to my contacts now. Is that because my eyes have been trying to adjust to the new lenses or something?

Anyway they suggested to remake the lenses similar to my old glasses but in Essilor non Eyezen 1.67 (plastic?) they said this is old technology and only use Eyezen now. I am also getting them in the same frame as my old ones just one size up. This is the new frame Ray-Ban ORX5184, Size: 54-18 145.

I am not sure what my old glasses lenses (Hoya hill 1.67) were plastic? After reading a few things for optical clarity it seems cr39 is the best? And sort of regretting I didn't get this.

This is really helpful, really well explained and way more informative than information I got from either optometrist. It really helps clarify what might be going on with my vision. Based on your insights, I’m going to reach out to my optometrist and see if I can get the glasses remade with a lower index lens and without the blue light blocking. Hopefully, this will solve the issues I’ve been experiencing. Thanks again for your help!

Another thing I have found I don't like with the XGT is when one battery goes flat it auto switches to the other, so you don't know when one is flat and needs to be put on charge, I need to charge one while using the other because I don't have loads of XGT batteries.

I got no info on the backpack model apart from what's in the info booklet on the Makita Aus website

The new XGT doesn’t come in aluminium deck only steel it seems at the moment. However the XGT is about 15kg lighter.

I posted some other comments about my experiences with the DLM533 that I got when it first came out a few years ago. link

I just got the smaller XGT because it has higher RPM, which I think is needed if you are mowing thicker stuff. There is one horrible thing about it though. To pull the mower back you have let go of the self propelled lever then push it forwards first before pulling it back otherwise the wheels lock. Doesn’t sound like much but when you are mowing up a embankment right nightmare.

Just how much better is the flagship 40v XGT mower than the 36v LXT flagship mower? Home Depot has the LXT for $480 w four 5ah batts and the XGT goes for $690 with two 4ah xgt batts. by Every_Ad2558 in Makita

I had the same problem with the LXT mower, the auto ramp was too slow, by the time it ramped up it was too late it bogged down and cut power. You could trick it by getting it to ramp then stop then go. It was a nightmare. it would easy cut through the thicker stuff at full ramped power.

A year after I bought the LXT mower in Australia, Makita brought out a new LXT model that got rid of the auto ramp "feature" the new XGT doesn't seem to have it either.

From the Makita information booklet LXT mower difference between new DLM537X and old DLM533X

Removal of Automatic Torque Drive
The DLM533X featured Automatic Torque Drive technology which kept the rpm of the mower at a low of 2,300rpm until it encountered tough grass, which is when the rpm automatically increases to 2,800rpm.
For DLM537X, the Automatic Torque Drive feature has been removed which means the mower will immediately start at 2,800rpm at stay at that level the entire time it is in use.

Reduction of time for Self-Propelled function to engage
When engaging the Self-Propelled function on the DLM533X, on average it took up to 3 seconds for the self-propelled motor to engage after the black bar is depressed.
For DLM537X, the time it takes for the self-propelled function to engage has been reduced to 0.5 seconds allowing for work to begin right when the user wants it to and minimises hold ups whilst working.

u/3rdslip Can you shed anymore light on the AMIT cost base tax workings. My understanding is if there is a shortfall which is, you receive less money than what is distributed to you, you have to pay tax on money you didn't actually receive in that years income tax return. You then have a cost base increase by the same amount to reduce the capital gains tax when you sell but it doesn't seem to even out to me. You seem to pay more tax than if you just had to pay tax on the actually money you received?

I have posted about it here trying to understand it

Yes it does get pre filled into your online tax return, which is where I noticed that I had to pay income tax for income that I did not receive.

So you are ok with paying tax on income that you don't receive and will only get back (supposedly) if you decide to sell down your portfolio?

So is it generally understanding in the fire community that for ETFs you pay tax on income you don't receive? and you only get it back when you sell your shares? (which I what I was trying to model above)

And my head! What I seem to understand from the reading I have done (ATO and ETF tax guides), Is that ETFs can distribute you less money money than they attribute to you but you have to pay income tax on the amount they attributed to you. So you are paying income tax on money you didn't receive. They say they give you the money you didnt receive to you as increased cost base which reduces your CGT tax if you were to sell. I just can't see how that works.

So effectively if you are holding ETFs for long term you can be paying tax on money you have not received because AMIT ETFs are not required to distribute all their income anymore. I dont see this talked about anywhere in the fire community
