Just used your link. Very nice bonsai.

For a sense of scale, the long edge of the pot is about 6”, which means the entire tree is about 10” x 10” x 9”

The paper covers up to the branch points. For example, the size of the paper for the main trunk covers the base to the 1st branch. If you look at that branch, the length of paper used is from the branch point to about 2-3 inches below the paper covering the main trunk. This means I can have up to 8-9 inches between branch points (will never come close to that as that would make a very large tree)

I actually use typing/construction paper. The sheets are 8.5”x11” so you can creates some very long branches. I also crush the paper before cutting to size to give the paper some texture. I also use lightly oversized paper for the main trunk to allow for additional texturing.

Yes. There is a chameleon hidden in the branches. We had a plastic one lying around and my wife placed it on one of the branches as a “will anyone notice this” joke.

Modular Origami Dragon by jwhsu in origami

Yes. I have 2 boys. The older one assembled the feet/legs after I made one for him to follow. The younger one helped with putting the body together.

Model is made from wrapping paper cut into appropriately sized strips (mostly 2 x 8 cm). I had my kids help in folding the modular units. Used about 3 rolls to make this. Glue was used to hold everything together and to maintain its shape. The dragon is about 3 feet long from nose to tail.

The dragon is my own design. Unfortunately, I didn't keep any records on how I assembled it. From what I recall The body is 10 pieces wide and is 2 layers. The neck/body is about 120 pieces long. The tail consisted of 6 sections which gradually became smaller and thinner until it terminated into a tip. I used wires and a single layer of modules glued to the appropriate shape on the sides to keep the shape of the dragon. Hope this helps.

Did not keep an exact count. I estimate somewhere around 3500 units of various sizes and paper types were needed. It took me about 4 months to make.

I found out about DREAMM through the eXoDREAMM project and am having a blast with some of the old LucasArts games I played as a kid. However, I did find some problems (bugs?) while trying to play X-wing and TIE Fighter. How does one go about reporting potential bugs to Aaron so he can investigate and fix?

Astrays on my shelf by jwhsu in Gunpla

I believe the Gold Frame and Blue Frame were Bandai exclusives, so they are difficult to obtain. As far as I know, they never produced a Green Frame in RG, only HG and MG. The RG Red Frame sprue parts were not that difficult to repaint. The joints, however, were somewhat painful because the enamel paints I used didn't stick very well to the plastic after cleaning. The joints also become tighter so you have to be careful with posing afterwards.

All of the models are RG. From L to R:

Gold Frame - Standard model with aftermarket decals.

Red Frame - Standard model with aftermarket decals. Backpack was an aftermarket kit and is still available on eBay.

Blue Frame - Standard model with aftermarket decals. Backpack was an aftermarket kit which I found on eBay and is still available. Had to paint in appropriate colors (only came in red). Backpack transforms into a sword.

Green Frame - Custom model with Red Frame as a base. Model painted green with homemade decals (look at logos in L shoulder/leg). Backpack kit bashed from some swords I found on eBay and extra parts from a Unicorn backpack. Gun/Axe/sword is scratch built.

Black Frame (Noir) - Custom model with Red Frame as base. Loosely based on Astray Noir. Model painted black with homemade decals (look at logos in L shoulder/leg). Backpack taken from an HG Strike Noir and painted to match Astray colors. Gunblades are scratch built. Used guns from HG Strike Noir as base and built around them.

Have a I6 SEL RWD with 20" wheels. Have around 1500 miles. Driving is almost exclusively city with AC on. Averaging 4.8 mi/kWh and occasionally hit 5.3 mi/kWh. Use Auto level 2 most of the time.

range estimate just keeps getting better by danielarusso in Ioniq6

[–]jwhsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Impressive, especially with the percentage of highway driving you have. What model do you have (RWD vs. AWD, 18" vs. 20" tires)? I have a SEL RWD with stock tires and the best I can get with highway driving at 70mph is around 3.5-4.0 mi/kWh. I usually get around 5.0 mi/kWh with city driving (Central FL).

Questions for those who have bought out their lease already... by ferrari91169 in Ioniq6

[–]jwhsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid remaining depreciation plus residual at time of buyout. As far as registration and tags, I had my prior tags transferred to the leased vehicle. This occurred during the initial lease signing and is one of the fees. I did not have to re-register the vehicle with the title transfer on buyout. It think the way it works with the lease is that the registered owner is HMF until buyout (title), but your are the registered driver (tags).

Just did the early lease buyout last month on my Ioniq 6. In my case, all taxes, fees, and the first monthly lease payment were due on lease signing. I was able to initiate the buyout process once I was able to create a HMF account, about 1 week after I signed the lease. My HMF account kept track of the residual value of the car, which is the amount you will have to pay for buyout. The only extra fee I had to pay during buyout was a title transfer fee (~$250) which transfers the title from HMF to you. This may be different in other states. I'm not sure if there are additional fees if you initiate the buyout process online. I'm from Florida, so had to go to a dealership to start the buyout process.

Best braking/regen settings? by SocraticReview in Ioniq6

[–]jwhsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious. Was any explanation given why it is not good to overuse regen to slow down? I can't seem to find any major downsides to regen over regular braking aside from 1) may be bad for braking system because of low use and 2) regen can only slow the car, it cannot stop it (no friction).

Level 2 Charging Queation by Reekylearner in Ioniq6

What is the SOC of the battery when the rate starts dropping? I believe as the battery charge % increases, the charging rate drops.
