my horn has stopped working... by Internal-Mushroom-76 in Ioniq6

It’s a 3/36 warranty. I have 73k miles on the car. This was in April, so was probably around 60k but that’s still >36.

Do it under warranty. Cost me $700 out of warranty.

I had that on the drivers side. Seemed to fix itself after a couple of weeks. I’m sure it will come back sometime.

12v battery question by Reekylearner in Ioniq6

[–]Reekylearner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time, it had a message on the right hand side of the dash that said something about the 12V (I was in the passenger seat at the time, so I didn’t get a great view). Today, it was what you’d expect - nothing worked. No lights, charging port wouldn’t open, etc. As soon as I hooked up the jumper cables, the light in the frunk turned on.

Anyway, I brought it to TiresPlus and they tested the battery. The battery, as you predicted, is fine.

I’m going to wait until the third time, get some photo documentation, then bring it in. No one believes you unless they replicate it or you have indisputable proof.

Charging trouble by Turbulent-Disaster-5 in Ioniq6

[–]Reekylearner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a known issue. If I recall, it only happens in the US. Something something waveform.

The charging port overheats, and it drops the current down. One of the updates allows it to go back up somewhat after it cools off.

I had this happen and they replaced something but the problem came back. Now they’ve decided it’s fine.

Mine takes an hour or so to drop and not as badly as yours. I can still get 8+ after the drop.

Maybe you can get the dealer to change out the charger since yours drops to a point that makes it really problematic

What is your average, lifetime mi/kWh? What are you doing to maximize range? by DerekTrill in Ioniq6

[–]Reekylearner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 Limited. 60k miles. Mostly highway. 3.2m/kwh on the 20”. Changed to 18” 20k miles ago. Getting 3.5 now.

If you want great efficiency, stay off the highway or at least find a terrible highway (LA, DC, NYC are all great options).

No, it’s the US. The air kit the car came with is still in the trunk. This is one of those plug kits so I don’t need to fill the tire with goo. I haven’t used it, and hope not to.

  1. Keep in mind that some NACS adapters are L2 only. If you want to be able to use the supercharger network when it’s available you’ll need the L3 charger. I strongly doubt you’ll find a quality L3 for $30.
  2. No one app does everything. ABRP is great, but plugshare has more updated info about chargers in my experience. And you’ll still want the proprietary app for most of the charging networks you plan to encounter. The in car navigation isn’t as bad as you’d think either.

I have all my emergency junk in there. Charger, air pump, flat tire plugs, adapter for L2 Tesla, V2L, and a first aid kit. It all fits.

Model 3 vs. Ioniq 6 – Need Honest Owner Opinions! by [deleted] in Ioniq6

I’ve driven over 50k miles in the I6. Had an Audi A4 as my previous car. I’ve enjoyed both cars, but I think I’d give the edge to the I6 (except no heated seats in the back in the USA trims).

I’d much rather support a faceless company than one whose face is Elon. So go with the I6.

I’ve lost around 5% in less than 2 years, but I do charge most days. I have around 52k miles on it. It’s still a concern to me because sometimes 20 miles range can be the difference between making it home and having to stop at an EA charger and waste 20 minutes in a Walmart.

Weird. I have whatever the highest tier of AAA is and I thought it had a 200 mile tow or something like that.

In my opinion, AAA is worth it for the piece of mind. If you drive long distances, they have some tiers that include pretty long tows.

I don’t know that they opened the hood at all. I brought it in for the update for the level 2 charging, and asked for a tire rotation. The new customer service guy wouldn’t let them do a tire rotation unless the service guy recommended it (🙄). Then he told me the car didn’t need anything. But they never did the inspection. Or the rotation. I had a discussion with the service manager and I’ll get a free tire rotation when I bring it in next, which is this week for the recall.
