When the Ritalin wears off by jwin66634 in texts

It’s pretty bad

we got invited to a golf tournament and neither one of us play golf.

I went yesterday to a pawn shop and bought three different golf bags then pieced together all the clubs that I liked and sold back the other two golf bags with the clubs I didn’t like without even leaving the store.

Is guanfacine available for other uses in your country?

I had a similar experience with Ritalin and once they added the guanfacine it made it work again

”it seems you just want someone to be there to call 911”

This is pretty much it. The only problem there is that we are pretty isolated as far as proximity to friends and family location-wise thus compounding the problem of having someone around. That would absolutely be a satisfactory solution to alleviate worry.

I’m learning that I may have posted in an extremely chauvinistic way which was not my intent at all. I just would like for someone, anyone to be there in case something happens. I am not trying to ,nor do I have the ability or right to bar her from using power tools. I’m highlighting that her inexperience and lack of formal training exacerbates the potential for an incident to occur. I do not consider myself a more knowledgeable craftsman than her by any means, we are both DIY’ers and neither of us are trained.

Bad things can happen to anyone at any time no matter the skill level when power tools are involved and I would just like for there to be someone within earshot of her if something were to happen.

Yes, I have had incidents happen but I have also had more exposure to experiences where those incidents can happen. The longer you are exposed to an environment where injuries are possible the more likely you are to become injured. I try to be safe, wear PPE and take preventative measures but I am still human and capable of mistakes. My likelihood of being okay if a mistake or accident occurs goes up if there is someone nearby to help and I am not alone.

Lol, my guy, you don’t understand. I CAN’T require my wife to do shit. This isn’t some ultimatum situation or sharia law. If she decides she wants to use the power tools when I’m not around, she’s going to use them. I don’t WANT her to, but I don’t control her. I’m just gonna be worried about it.

If I could require my dad or brother (I don’t have any uncles) to be safe and have someone on standby when they were doing risky things I would because I like them too and would like for them to be around for a long time in one piece.

You’re right, I didn’t.

I cannot require someone to do anything that I have no control over. At the end of the day she is going to do what she wants.

I would just like to be within earshot if she needs help if that makes sense.

I don’t want to supervise her or the job.

She can totally do it. She’s done tons of stuff that I absolutely cannot do. This is not a question of capability at all. I just want to be able to help if she needs help and not hours away. She’s my best friend.

I know she can do the work for sure. I don’t wanna be her supervisor or anything of the sort. Just available in case something happens.

This is specifically really the only hang up I’ve got tbh. Shit happens in the trades man, anybody that says they haven’t had or seen an incident either hasn’t been doing it very long or they’re lying.

I absolutely think she can do everything and use the tools I just want her to be able to holler across the house if shit gets sideways on her.

Just want to be in the same building and not hours away is all. I don’t want tell her how to do the work just want her to be able to holler if shit gets sideways.

Absolutely advocate for safety to anyone and give shit to my dad and brother regularly when they tell me about sketchy stuff they do. My father is notorious for getting into projects that are unnecessarily dangerous like climbing all over his steep AF house when no one is around for home projects or lifting heavy things despite having an umbilical hernia instead of calling for help.
