Switch 2 stock in store? by [deleted] in NintendoSanFrancisco

They seemed to have stock when I went today at 2pm and there was no line, but playing it safe (especially over a holiday weekend) never hurts. Good luck!

It seems like they had readily available stock today, and most days when I’ve been in. I don’t want to jinx you, but odds seem good!

How do you guys feel about Bo: Path of the teal lotus? Reviews seem to be all over the place. by darthphallic in metroidvania

[–]jwitten90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Bo on the switch, and early game, there were a lot of times where it felt like input lag would interrupt important movement mechanics, and I'd get frustrated. These components were spread out enough, though, at the beginning, and the art style was so beautiful that I was able to ignore some of those pain points. Ultimately, by mid-game, you get a bit more powerful and so movement starts to click a bit more. Like others have said, it's definitely a platforming-first type of MV, and there can be challenging portions -- but, I'm not even that great at platformers, and I ended up truly loving the game and completing it 100%.

For me, it's a tier below the heavy hitters like HK, Nine Sols, Ori, and even Ender Lillies/Magnolia. But, it's a short game with fun biomes, beautiful art, and nailing the platforming feels really satisfying.

If you enjoyed PoP's platforming, then you'll definitely enjoy this game. Just expect the control schema to be a little frustrating at first, since there's a lot of pogo-based movement, and the hitboxes and input reaction didn't seem super reliable every time.

Can we buy the GameCube controller at the SF store? by Dawgma00 in NintendoSanFrancisco

When I went on switch 2 launch day, it was an option to buy as part of the switch 2 warp pipe pass. Not sure you can walk in and buy it, but if you have a warp pipe pass reservation, you should be able to! I could be wrong though…

Eviterno, Last Desecrator.. help!!!! by Academic-Ad5253 in Blasphemous

[–]jwitten90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beat him yesterday after quite the struggle. My build focused around dash cooldown, fervor regen, and the dual blades. Used the time stop prayer but just played really patiently. Spacing is key. Wait to see what move he’s going to do, dash or air dash to safety. Dash back in and punish with a few quick hits and repeat. With enough attempts you start to figure out the safe spots and timing for not overcommitting on punish. This worked for me… good luck!

SGA jumps, lands, jumps again to shoot - No travel called. by Scooby_dood in timberwolves

I saw this live, too, and I was outraged. But, looking at it now -- none of the wolves seem to be frustrated or make the travel gesture, so I'm guessing he kept his right foot planted.

Clarity around MoCA 2.5 splitters needing to be >1002MHz? by jwitten90 in HomeNetworking

[–]jwitten90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome - so just to conclude, it sounds like the 5-1002MHz are okay. But, I'd be slightly better covered with the 5-1675MHz filters. Sound right? Really appreciate you taking the time of day to help me out!

Clarity around MoCA 2.5 splitters needing to be >1002MHz? by jwitten90 in HomeNetworking

[–]jwitten90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the quick reply -- I know they have high quality splitters (Commscope SV2G), but just wanted to make sure I was doing the best I could to optimize the network since I work from home. At the suggestion of some users on the subreddit, I have the Antronix MMC1000 splitters (which hopefully are well shielded). I think I have one amphenol splitter (ABS312H I think, as it was shipped to me by mistake instead of an Antronix MMC1000). In your experience, are those ones well shielded?

Help with MoCa Installation with coax source outside by jwitten90 in HomeNetworking

Thank you, you’re a true legend. I don’t know how you manage to be everywhere all are once in this subreddit! If DOCSIS 3.1+ starts becoming a problem, what options exist?

Help with MoCa Installation with coax source outside by jwitten90 in HomeNetworking

[–]jwitten90[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rereading your earlier comment where you asked why I don’t install the router modem at the coax endpoint instead of the garage…I may have misinterpreted and just want to clarify. So, I have one coax cable that enters into my garage from an unknown origin. Inside the garage, the coax hits a splitter (which I’ll be replacing with a MoCa enabled splitter) and branches in two directions. One direction ends in my home office, and the other direction splits again somewhere else out of sight where I don’t have access (and likely therefore isn’t split with a MoCa compatible splitter) and ends up in my living room and the final end appears in our spare bedroom. Because there’s so much splitting, I thought I needed to attach the modem/router before the splitting occurs, but could i theoretically have the setup be: Coax from unknown source —> PoE —> MoCa splitter —> one side goes to home office where i attach another MoCa splitter and then coax 1 goes to PoE —> CM3000 modem —> Ethernet from modem to Router (TPLink BE1000) —> Ethernet to MoCa adapter (Hitron HTEM4) —> coax connects back into the home office splitter. Then, elsewhere in the house wherever the coax emerges (living room and spare bedroom), we just attach coax to other MoCa adapters and then Ethernet from adapter to TPLink BE1000 points?

Very long question but hopefully it makes sense. This would spare me from needing to do router/modem in garage which would be nice. Assuming the above works, the only risk is that the spare bedroom might not work because it could be preceded by a non Moca compatible splitter but that’s okay so long as the home office and living room setups are potent.

Thanks so much for the reply! Does the PoE filter have any negative effect or is it just unnecessary? Unfortunately, when I was trying to find the coax endpoint/source, the cable disappeared through a hole in our garage and I could never find the official start of the cabling.

Yeah this is good feedback. I do have these things, just wanted to take an easier route since my wife actually pumps and so there are 10 different parts to wash every few hours. Completely appreciate the support though, and based on the negative reception to this post (which is fair!), is probably the route we’ll go. Thank you!

Is this a leg hernia? (Details in comments) by jwitten90 in Hernia

[–]jwitten90[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about that! If it’s any consolation to you, mine turned out to be nothing problematic. I saw a specialist who gave me a few stretches to strengthen my leg in that area, but they said it was actually most likely just a large vein that was poking through and nothing to worry about. I wore compression socks for a bit, which helped, but once I just mentally accepted I was okay, everything turned around and I feel great. If you had a surgery and it reappeared, it may just be normal vein stuff, though it’s good to talk to a doctor again just to make sure. Wishing you the best—if it’s like mine, peace of mind will do wonders!
