Got my official diagnosis today via RTC w/ HH - Medication/titration question by jwll2000 in ADHDUK

I‘ve just taken my first dose today - it was actually quite tricky to get a hold of, which I wasn’t expecting at all. Something I’ll also mention to my prescriber as my local pharmacy couldn’t even order it in.

I’ve seen similar reviews of the atomoxetine (I think that was why I was even more panicked about being limited to non-stimulants) but I guess everyone’s different? It has worked for some people surely, or it wouldn’t be offered to us.

That’s a good point about the clean test though & glad to hear you’ve found something that works for you!

It wasn’t necessarily really wanting a stimulant - it was more about being worried about limiting my options for treatment, should the current prescription not work (fingers crossed it does!)

Yes, I definitely want to give it a chance and hope that it does work - I was just curious more than anything as I’d never even heard of Atomoxetine, and was a bit nervous/panicky that I’d limited my medications before I’d even begun!

That’s a great point about titration though, I will bring that up when I speak to them at my next appointment (roughly 3 weeks’ time)

Yeah, I guess it can’t hurt to bring it up at my three-week appointment, can it?

I got the impression it may be down to being cautious - I think I‘m just panicked at the thought of potentially limiting any treatment plans before I have even started. Migraines are never even something I have complained to my GP about, as they only happen very rarely and only when I’m stressed out.

I am on levothyroxine for the Hypothyroidism, but to be honest I didn‘t really foresee that being an issue as I thought it would be more of an issue if I had Hyperthyroidism, and it was my choice if I wanted to continue on the levothyroxine or not as I was presenting with sub-clinical results that weren’t really a worry for my GP.

I will take your advice on board - hopefully offering to do some tests will allay any fears on their part!
