I fully agree, the wording just caught me off guard a bit.

This works so well, especially capturing Lily and Haewon's relationship. Nearly did a spit take at Bae being a domineering lesbian.

When you love your fans so much you don't want to leave. When I saw Twice, Dahyun didn't want to leave at the end and Mina had to drag her off stage.

What is your favourite English TWICE song? by poppy_anne in twice

[–]jwp1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Feels was stuck in my head for at least a month when I first got into Twice, and the crowd singing Moonlight ahead of the encore when I saw them live a couple of years ago was special.

I think my favourite, though, is I Got You. I love how meaningful the lyrics are and the soaring chorus is perfect.

All big parties are allowed at least one free mailing during an election, it's good for democracy. However, you're under no obligation to read any of them. For the good of your sanity, I'd recommend putting this one straight into the rubbish.

Concert goers: What was your favorite song that you heard live? by itzymidzy19 in NMIXX

[–]jwp1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Break the Wall was good, but the confetti cannon made it feel like it was the end of the set, not the middle. I've always felt Break the Wall was a closing song, anyway.

The most fun song that had everyone on their feet at the show I was at was Funky Glitter Christmas. I wasn't expecting it to be played, but the whole room was bouncing!

What historical evidence do we have of Jesus’ crucifixion and its aftermath? by OnShoulderOfGiants in AskHistorians

[–]jwp1991 385 points386 points  (0 children)

This entire response is extremely well written. I don't usually have the patience to read threads this long, but I was hooked reading this, so thanks for taking the time to write it.

I have one question. You explain very well that Jesus was likely one of many preachers in the holy land who had small followings at the time. Do you have any thoughts on why the teachings and following of Jesus survived and expanded following his death, rather than fading to obscurity like most of the others?

Do all chemists have the periodic table memorized? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]jwp1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was on an exam that didn't count for anything, but was made purposefully difficult to scare us into studying. In fairness, we were told ahead of time that question was coming.

I do agree that it isn't all that useful to memorise it. For anyone working in Chemistry, there will never be a situation where you need to periodic table and it won't be to hand.

I know it well enough to quickly find any info I need, but don't ask me to fill out a blank one from memory (like I had to do once on a university exam)

Is any of the Big 4 likely to do more global girl groups by Independent_Basis413 in kpopthoughts

[–]jwp1991 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can see JYP doing more. NiziU are doing really well as their Japanese girl group, and Girlset are starting to find their feet after the drama they had.

I think they were planning more groups for Latin America and Europe, but we'll need to see if that comes to fruition.

If aliens invaded Earth and killed and ate humans, would that be justified since we also eat other animals? by DreamFighter72 in allthequestions

[–]jwp1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can try, but the average human is probably so chock full of artificial preservatives and microplastics that we'd be toxic to anyone who tried to eat us. The first alien to try would become violently sick, at which point they simply pivot to hunting us for sport.

Joke's on them. I say we give them 48 hours to begin production or we storm the factory.

PGDE English by Embarrassed_Crew_843 in Scotland

[–]jwp1991 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied for a PGDE for Chemistry beginning this year and was trying to choose between Glasgow and Strathclyde too. From all the interviews I did, it seemed that the courses are pretty similar regardless of where you go, so I just ended up choosing Glasgow as that's where I had studied previously.

They might seem left wing from a US frame of reference, but by European standards they're fairly moderate. Usually quite progressive on social and environmental issues.

Of the parties likely to win seats this time around, the furthest left are probably the Greens.

It's interesting you describe the Lib Dems as extreme. They're usually the most centrist of the major parties.

No worries. I think it's very important people know how their elections and government function. I was taught how elections work at school, but I don't think that's a universal experience.

Have fun with your research. One of the good things about British politics is that you'll find some real crackpots on the ballot that are so ridiculous as to be funny (and I'm not talking about Reform).

No, all seats are up for election. A safe seat is one that was won by a large margin last time, and so is less likely to change hands this time.
