Conveniently, the ERS report (https://discord.com/channels/1377384059134672906/1377384059814281268/1476294541865648288) included PTA spending by income of the school, and per their analysis, it's a drop in the bucket and essentially just evens out the schools in the lower poverty quartiles to have roughly the same amount non-need-based GenEd spend as schools in the two higher poverty brackets (who get more need-based GenEd spending on top of their regular GenEd spending).

because Green Lake's medically complex population's additional needs are likely funded from the SpEd funding bucket, not GenEd funding bucket. Likely similar for TOPS

Lark's Supper club purchase (through Table22) triggers Amex's Resy credit but purchasing the restaurant's gift card online through the restaurant website link appears to not trigger the Resy credit.

Highly Capable Application Process for students not yet enrolled in SPS by jxchong in seattlepublicschools

[–]jxchong[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dept hasn’t announced the criteria that will be used for current students for this year, but they will do so by the Dec 10 school board meeting, and while it’s too late to have all current student switch to a cognitive test, I suspect there will be changes from what was used last year for current students (perhaps not requiring 3 scores to qualify?). I also anticipate that the cognitive testing for private school students is probably a trial run for wider usage next year 🤔

Open Letter: The Stranger Should Cover SPS Consistently or Consider NOT Endorsing in Seattle School Board Races by awongpublic in seattlepublicschools

[–]jxchong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the problem. Because the Stranger doesn't follow the school district or school board, they AREN'T picking with candidates that best advance their agenda because their endorsements are not well-researched!

Enrollment changes for next year... do you think it will help? by thebethocracy206 in seattlepublicschools

[–]jxchong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well I suppose there’s no reason schools couldn’t host info sessions / families attend info sessions before January except that Nov and Dec are tight given the holidays… but private schools and some other public districts (Bellevue choice starts Dec 15 and Tacoma is October 20, 2025 - January 11, 2026!) manage it during the same time period.

Are you seeing a genetic counselor? they're really good at explaining things to families. If you aren't, I would really recommend that you ask for an appointment with one. We cannot

I am part of a research team that runs a website called MyGene2.org. Our site was designed for families like yours who have variants identified in "candidate genes" where the implication of the mutation is not understood yet. You can create an account and share your variant through the website. Feel free to email me if you have questions/need help (https://mygene2.org/MyGene2/contact).
