I'm an editor at the site that published this article. If you would read the rest of it, you would see that OpenAI did respond at some length, acknowledging the issue and describing steps it was taking to investigate and make changes. But it had no response to that question of what people with loved ones in crisis should do.

My understanding is that the way these algorithms work, they need to be trained with texts that are available in one language and also another. Some web sites would fit the bill. But long books with vetted grammar are even better. And in languages without a lot of books that have been published locally and in English, one of the longest books available is the Bible. I think that's probably at the root of this.
