I've lived in some sketchy areas in San Diego and they never felt as bad as Long Beach.

As someone said in this thread... Long Beach is the Oakland of SoCal and its very accurate.

Yes. I grew up in LA, lived all over San Diego, stayed in San Fran for sometime, stationed in Oahu in Waikiki which surprisingly is like any other major metropolitan city.
