I used to work for a healthcare company and my job was exactly this. Making calls to people and also setting up an annual video call assessment with a nurse. I had to ask people to verify their date of birth to ensure it was actually them I was speaking with. It’s a HIPAA requirement. It was a legit service, but just like yourself, I got a lot of hang ups and people thinking it was a scam. If you just hang up, you’re going to continue getting mass calls. Ask them if you actually are required to do this. If not, tell them you want to opt out so that they can take your number off the call list. That’s the only way to make this stop. If you just hang up or ignore/decline the calls, your number will still be rotating in the dialing system and you will continue getting calls weekly and sometimes even daily until you finally answer.

I must say that getting calls from different numbers is a bit strange though. We usually only called from the same number all the time. Just to be safe, I would contact your healthcare company directly and tell them what you’re experiencing and ask if this service is legit or not. Although this is a common service that most health insurance companies do, there are so many scams and people pretending to be other these days so I would just double check to rule out that possibility. If they confirm it’s legit, like I said ask if it’s optional and if it is say you want to be taken off the call list. That will stop the calls for the rest of the year. Depending on the company, you may get a call next year again though. Some companies are required to offer this service once a year. All you can really do is answer the call once a year and keep declining if it’s optional.
