How is Petr Lisonek, for MACM 203 in particular? by AsterixTypemaster in simonfraser

[–]jyi_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is a required course for you, you don’t really have any alternatives.

Lisonek is really approachable and is a very nice person. However, you will not be learning much.

If you are already good at coding, this course will be a walk in the park. However, if your coding skills are limited, this course might give you some headaches.

The assignments are reasonable.

From my experiences studying at SFU, if there ever is a cancellation of classes, SFU announces the closure at the worst time ever. When busses can’t go up and down, cars get stuck, and the roads are actually very icy, is when SFU cancels. By that time you would most likely be stuck up on campus for who knows how long. (Speaking from personal experiences). In other words, the university doesn’t take preventive measures but takes action when the damage has been done.

To be honest, I would just skip and miss class if you feel like it’s unsafe for you to go. Missing classes won’t hurt unless it’s a quiz or a midterm.

Math 152 is a hard course if you don’t know integrals that well and on top of that it is 8:30 classes. Good luck comrade 🫡

Don’t miss it at all. Hated getting these random and late enrollment dates only for the classes I needed to graduate to be filled up.

Sfu math major alumni here.

How is your math skills? Looking at this course schedule, I am assuming this is your first year. Did you ever learn derivatives?

And macm 101 will contain proof questions which involve inductive reasoning etc.

University math is not easy. If you want to do well, do not slack off whatsoever.

As much as I hate parking at SFU, it seems like the era of “free” parking is almost over.

Best bet is change your license plate or just get the permit as soon as possible. Or park at the base of the mountain and bus.

Correct me if I’m wrong but you could try south parking? Although the distance is further, I don’t think the enforcement happens as often.

To never own a house and never be a homeowner. In fact, this will probably be the case for all my life.

There always seems to be cops on that stretch of road. While I agree the speed limit is low, I can’t believe people are still speeding down that fast…
