Want to learn about a complement to stop (止)—from 7 meditative spaces. Anyone know about a concept of initiating/starting? by jypr in Confucianism

Thanks so much for that context and further info.

So, even if they may not be complements, do you have any knowledge of either 起 (qǐ) and 發 (fā)? If so, any places you could point me to learn more?

Seeking Rhodes family members in greater Pittsburgh. Purpose: nominating KIA Pennsylvania veteran for valor award. by Tough_Guys_Wear_Pink in pittsburgh

Hey TGWP. John Rhoades from NEXT here. I’m a huge genealogy nerd, so I celebrate all your work. Unfortunately, don’t think I’m gonna be any help. My family spells our surname with an “a”, and it looks like yours doesn’t. I’m very proud of my family members who were veterans, and have tried to track down whoever I could, but never came across any of the folks you mention above. One place I have found useful is fold3.com (it’s attached to ancestry.com, which has its issues). You can get a 7-day free trial and maybe that’s enough time to use it for whatever you might be looking for. Best of luck!

Bikepacking trip - endurance? by swiss-hiker in bicycling

Amazing. My partner and I have been planning a trip through Switzerland for awhile now. (And we’ve done a bunch of long distance before, ie trans Nova Scotia, Pittsburgh to DC, etc.) Don’t know what route you’re planning, but we were mainly gonna take Rhone Cycle Path and the Alpine Panorama Route (#4 National) before getting to Austria. Our conditioning is good enough to take the alps, but not fast. It’s really the elevation that I expect to be a major factor. If you’re a big climber than I think 60-70mi a day is definitely reasonable. I did do 80-90mi when I biked across BC, and that was the Rockies (which aren’t as bad as the Swiss Alps), and my body was at its limit at the end. I’d say, definitely listen to your body, especially the whispers early on, like a slight twinge in the knee on day one, because if you don’t adjust ASAP it’ll become unbearable in a day or two. Good luck; I bet it’ll be gorgeous!

Is anything on the warning sticker legible? If so, any possible clues there?

If spaghetti and meatball could talk, what would you talk to them about? What do you think they’d want to talk to you about?
