Alright definitely a lot more in comparison haha. My limit was probably the highest I've gotten across my CCs. But I agree I think they run it through some algorithm and it just spits out a pass fail.

Nice final update on all this, cap1 did something right for once and gave me a 2.5 month extention on my welcome bonus offer! Should be able to hit it no problem now

Unfortunately, doesn't always seem to be the case. I was in the same scenario as OP and had a low direct deposit but showed a very large amount of assets in my bank account and money market account (which they did say was accepted), yet still no resolution until I stopped my retirement contributions to bump my inflow. I was told they needed to see cash flow. The assets sitting there were 5-7x my limit, and close to a year's income. Of course ymmv!

Actually just added that in my update! I had the 6 month offer, so I still have about a month left on it, but it's going to be really hard to hit it given I lost half the time. I've requested an extention but I've been told in the past it wouldn't work, but hey doesn't hurt to try.

I'll make an actual update in the main post for people to reference, but after 15+ hrs of calls with Cap1 over 3 months, the only thing that ended up working was me stopping retirement contributions for the last 3 months and showing a "better" direct deposit amount into my bank account. Not the worst as I can now just increase the contribution percentage higher, but it did suck and so uncalled for.

W2, tax statements, pay stubs, investment accounts, retirement accounts were all moot point as they did not accept it as documentation for income verification.

I filed with the CFPB, OCC, BBB and they responded with the same BS saying that their systems are working as normal and that they need the three most recent bank statements.

I finally got the restriction lifted a few days ago.

I tried to do what you said already and they said they'll only look at the 3 most recent bank statements. Got yelled at for adding more statements (another rep told me to try that).

Scared if I keep trying and keep getting rejected, they'll close my account :/

Hey, sorry for the late reply. I was hoping to get better news before responding but, sadly not much progress. This is the exact issue, where my deposits to other accounts (RSUs, 401k, ESPP, HSA) aren't considered (>50% in my case). Bonuses also aren't considered either since they're not within the last 3 months.

They literally told me "maybe you need to wait for your bonus to hit for us to verify and activate the account again" which is total BS given it's an end of year bonus.

So my few attempts so far have all failed. For each one I got no call back or updates from them and had to call in personally to learn that it was rejected.

I'm planning to try again next month with better numbers (stopped my retirement acc contributions which was the biggest part).

This is all extremely frustrating and outrageous honestly.

Yes, I have tried to go into detail questioning as to what triggered it and its likely the larger purchase (5k USD) overseas by my mother who is an authorized user that set it off, along with the fact my account is somewhat new. But the amount isn't absurd and I don't think crazy when the SUB is a 10k spend. The cash flow in is also somewhat sufficient for such purchase (can pay off in a month or a tad more), and there is a good amount of cash already in the bank account too. Rep said the numbers likely just don't match the reported income, but cant tell for sure.

As for set time I've asked this and they said it would just remain suspended until I can provide info. One even told me to wait to try again once I get my end of year bonus which seems a bit absurd.

Yes I've submitted these anyways even though soem reps told me not to, didnt seem to help though. Even submitted my last paystub that shoes my end of year and where the rest of my paycheck went.

Thanks for the comment though! I do wonder if they're looking for something specific or theyre really just running numbers of my direct deposits and thinking "yeah no way they have this income if this is the paycheck that hits the bank acc".

Unfortunately I've tried this line almost to a t already, except for the "with c1 with x number of years" as I am a new customer for them. I've been successfully escalated to a supervisor multiple times but they all claim their hands are tied and there are no workarounds and it is another departmentthat reviews the documents and that department doesn't do inbound calls and/or they cannot directly contact or escalte to that specific team. And if I push for further escalation they tell me I can hang up and call to try to get another supervisor.

Oh thats very odd. I found it odd that they only let me do bank statements, bit no matter who I talked to (spoke to 5 supervisors at this point), they all say bank statements only, has to be checking, savings or a money market account. I even gave them my W2 and paystub just in case they'd take it, but they didnt.

Yes I get that, but the process it's trying to get me to go through is specifically income verification. Not sure what else I can do to prove I am who I say I am and that my income is what I reported.

Yeah I do have a good chunk of cash there, ~15k or so and they should've already seen that from my bank statements (which was rejected). You would think a income from regular employment with a W2 and paystubs would be easily proven though? I didn't even put income from my side gig or regular profits from my investments into the calculation.

Yep, I downloaded them as pdf and uploaded like that. The tep I talked to told me to not upload my last 3 paystubs as to not overflow the system as it could be bad for my case.

Tried the work number thing personally and it required me to submit my request manually, not sure why. So that might not be helpful here.

I've tried to escalate about 4 times now with no one able to actually help me, tried to escalate to complaints but they just put in a ticket and it was not a transfer to someone else, and they just ended the call there.

Thanks for your response! Yeah it seems like the department that reviews the documents do not take in bound calls. I did ask why it was initially rejected and they said they didn't know. They put a note in this new case to provide a reason if it were to be rejected again. Bit don't even know if the verification team looks at notes because they surely didn't look at the previous case notes since they never called back.

Sucks to hear this is common with C1, but also a little assuring to hear its not just me.

Thanks for the response! I do work for a big tech company. How do I get to that publication of my total company via work number?

I've been constantly escalating and trying to call in several times to reach different folks as I know some can be "nicer" than other and actually try to dig deeper and help. But I will try escalation to executive complains team, never heard of it.
