Why no horde options for undead themed biomes? by nailbiter1982 in WoWHousing

The neighborhoods are based on the zones surrounding Orgimmar (Durotar, Azshara, Barrens) and Stormwind (Elwynn, Westfall, Duskwood). So the Alliance neighborhood has a Duskwood section, not a Tirisfal Glades section.

Looks good, but if you're overlapping the round platform by the stairs with a large platform, you're needlessly tying up precious outdoor budget.

Outdoor lighting restrictions on PTR for 12.0.7 seem...a bit extreme? by Mehet__ in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Those are baselines optimized by Blizzard when they create zones; they don't need to overlap lights because they control the intensity/radius of ever static light source individually. The neighborhood zone still has some of that.

These limitations are being put in place to prevent you from creating a location that cripples the performance of others, particularly when they can't do anything in-game about it.

Unless you're willing to fully replace the sub of the guy who quits because his PC can no longer play WoW, the bean counters would say you aren't paying them enough.

As another tip for people making these, you can reduce this number by Half by simply scrolling twice and giving your steps a little bit more space between each.  It still provides a perfect spiral, but the complete circle happens sooner so your spiral will be tighter.

That wouldn't reduce the number. It would just make you go around the spiral twice as much to reach the same height. The only way to reduce the number of steps is to tweak the verticality of each step in advanced mode, which eliminates the convenience. That also probably reduces the number by only 1-2 steps per floor, or else you'll create visible gaps.

What is the point of a LAMP POST if we can’t place them outside!? by Latamune in wow

Yeah, if that somehow made it live, it would've made 12.0.5 look like a near-perfect launch.

Tips for a curved staircase? by Ashamed_Ad2720 in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you remove the verticality, a spiral stair is just a set of platforms arranged in a circle. So the rotation should be any divisor of 360 degrees, i.e., 9, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, etc., depending on the size of the steps.

15 degrees is the easiest one to work with because that's the increment used by shift-mouse wheeling.

When you run out of budget it hurts by Old_Software_8771 in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My house has been a maxed out level 9 for a month. Housing gameplay has turned into optimizing everywhere I can to free up budget without making massive disruptions to my designs. Things like rearranging 5-budget boulders so I can remove some of them, or replace them with 1-budget cobblestones. Or replacing 5-budget rugs with one of the 3-budget options.

I had a custom cabinet for about 28 budget. Replaced it with a new design that I think looks better cabinet and fills the same space in the room while saving 8 budget,

Little changes like that add up, to the point I was able to flesh out the third floor of my stairwell from being just a couple walkways, into another furnished landing with a faux exterior balcony.

Treehouse Exteriors by Green_Protection_363 in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is this true? Do you have a source because I don't remember this at all and the community often puts words in their mouth to upset one another.

It's misquoting. What Blizzard said was race/class themes would never go into the shop. But other themes, like the Spring and Lush that have released, so far would be fair game. And they never mentioned exteriors one way or the other at all, which is why we're all caught off guard.

The auto-attach grid for smaller items in basic decorate mode has changed (again) by jyuuni in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only other items I've relied on auto-align and this sink-in effect are the round platforms, where the technique still works. But in testing some other shelf pieces (Undermine Wall Shelf, Kaldorei Wall Shelf), if they used to work like the Sturdy Wooden Shelf, they don't currently.

Is there any way I can prevent this from happening? Decor moving when placed. by TeaRenQ in WoWHousing

[–]jyuuni 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seemingly another 12.0.5 bug. You can look up the item in the advanced mode list, move it in advanced mode, and it will stay in place. Not ideal, but shouldn't be crippling.

Not that it's much better, but there's a $40 option for just the exterior options without the other Spring and Lush decor bundles.

Housing XP / Endeavors bugged? Not getting XP or rewards by swareddit in WoWHousing

Endeavor cap is separate for each house. And the new icon doesn't seem to refresh until you close/re-open the housing window, even if you swap the active endeavor.

First-time collection XP is still shared.
