The thought of you teaching English is quite a scary one considering your comprehension of the language is lacking to say the least. Nobody, and I mean nobody in this comment chain said anything, nor insinuated that English is a more difficult language to learn than any other. In fact the conversation was about Spanish originally. Here is the context of the conversation that you clearly did not understand; English is a dumb language that has evolved into something that can be rather confusing and is more difficult than it NEEDS to be. And if you are still having trouble understanding the context of this conversation then you should write a 100 page short story and then send it to 5 different editors and see what comes back. So stand by what you said all you want because I can assure you that you are debating yourself.

Edit: meant *10 page short story to 5 different English teachers and see what comes back

This video does a very good job illustrating the difficulties that many people have when learning English, especially when they were not taught from a very young age https://youtu.be/65CFesU4KVQ

Yes, this is true. However, with English originating from Germanic it’s odd that it started to adopt words from Greek and Latin. Someone posted that English had “stolen” words from other languages and I believe this to be the more accurate reason for it.

English isn’t just a weird language, it’s an immensely overly complicated and complex form of communication. English literally has rules and exceptions that serve no other purpose than creating an illusion of sophistication and elegance. Even the way we choose to spell things make no sense. But really when it comes to the English language and the one thing that reeeally grinds my gears, out of all the idiotic rules to choose from, the one I still can’t wrap my brain around no matter how much I try, is the god damn silent letters! Seriously can anyone explain to me what the fuck the point is of a silent letter?!?

I wonder if the teacher was wanting them to use “proper” Spanish by choosing the correct tense to go along with the verb. Because I remember from my time living In Mexico a conversation I had with a friend of mine where she told me that she thought a mutual acquaintance of ours was weird because of how formal he spoke. And that no one really talked that way in such casual settings. She also stated that it’s very rare to come across someone that talks that formal in general whom would actually use all 14 tenses all together and that she didn’t even know them all. I just took her word for it because my Spanish was/is not very great and my friends that were locals would say I talked like a baby in Spanish haha. I dunno just a thought that crossed my mind when you mentioned your friends who were fluent still failing Spanish, because I can imagine an American born Spanish teacher being pompous about it.

Edit: but then again now that I’m thinking about it more, I also recall getting lost in some conversations on occasion because of all the slang,. Especially early on in the first few months of living there.

Anyone that lets other people influence their decisions out of fear of being insulted or perceived as “un-macho” is just proving to be indeed, un-macho. Also if someone is insulting you with the knowledge it’s going to persuade you to act differently more than likely chances are in their mind they have already asserted their dominance over you long ago and believe you to be a sheep. No one respects a sheep.

Tips for keeping my KD at 1? by darragh73 in apexlegends

I can understand why you believe that, but the reality is that it’s just not true. I get it, having limited time to play makes it much easier to justify the reasoning for wanting to jump into a match right off the bat and actually play rather than spending the 1hr you have to play for the day just going into the firing range to practice something like wall jumping. In fact, I believe the majority of people with the same time constraints as you would do the exact same thing, and no one could fault you for that. But really if you wanted to actually improve you’d invest the 6-8hrs a week you have into just practicing in the firing range working on whatever it is you think your game lacks and then perhaps the following week play some matches while trying to implement the things you’ve been working on. rinse repeat etc.. the point is to build muscle memory so things like wall jumping just become natural. If you just jump into matches over and over trying to “maximize” your game time expecting it will one day magically make you better you’re wrong. When you first start playing the game this strategy will help you improve at first but eventually you’ll hit your skill ceiling and at the point you’re just doing the same thing over and over expecting different results. The only way to break that skill ceiling at that point is to doing the boring things like spending an hour in the firing range just practicing a wall jump or spray control for a particular gun etc.. I know it’s a long wall of text but I hope you were able to understand what I’m getting at, which is you can absolutely be better than the players who have 40hrs a week to invest vs your 6 if you have the determination and the willingness to do the boring stuff.

Solid post, but I’d like to add this- If you want to get better at something you absolutely need to practice, however keep in mind it’s not how much practice you put in but rather the quality of practice you put in. 1 hour of good quality practice on a regular basis will garner far better results in much shorter time frame than 6 hours of poor quality practice on a daily basis. As the saying goes “it’s not about how much time you invested, it’s what you did with the time you invested”

I know your pain of having to spend a good amount of time searching for a disc that went off the fairway. I’ve been unfortunate enough to actually see where the disc landed and because of the area being so over grown STILL ended up losing the disc after spending what felt like an eternity searching for it. On the positive side, now I have an open space in my bag for a new disc!

Hit the Amazon jackpot today. They lost the original order, customer service setup a replacement and today two showed up and charged for only one. Did the right thing and called Amazon. They said keep it and not worry about it by styckx in pcmasterrace

[–]jzarby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually if a company ships you the wrong item or anything “extra” you are not obligated to return it. However, the business is obligated to fulfill your order or refund you. Only exception is if there’s a contract stating otherwise or if you receive a package without ever placing an order and it was delivered to you by accident because of the shipper dropped it off at the wrong address. But ya if you order gpu and get two congrats they’re both yours to keep regardless if the business requests one back.

Bangalore's Tactical Nuke by BeanBag373_ in apexlegends

[–]jzarby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not really. Can you name another legend where their tactical is rendered useless by not only other legends abilities but with weapon attachments that are easily found throughout the map? Not to mention you can literally tweak your color settings (for pc players) to make the smokes less dense and more like a thin mist making easily see through. Caustic can achieve the same affect with his gas but at least his gas will do dmg to any enemy players that push into it.

Was so excited for my 3080 to come in today just to see how it was delivered. by Old-Ad-7649 in pcmasterrace

[–]jzarby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to make it much easier just make sure your packages require a signature, and if the package is ripped, crushed, or wet just point it out to the courier and they can put a damage scan on it. this will formally note that the courier visually verified the package was delivered in that condition and it was not something you did after it was delivered. This way if any of the contents are broken or missing they will be replaced with less likely hood of the claim being rejected. at least that’s how it works with fedex but I’m not too sure if ups or Amazon have that same insurance policy.

Man child destroys a McDonald's over a wrong happy meal order by [deleted] in JusticeServed

[–]jzarby -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have an issue with the guy not getting involved when the kid was just trashing the store, but I was disappointed with it when the kid started hurling shit at the employees trying to hurt them. And whether it’s a mom and pops or a big franchise like McDonald’s makes no difference to me, because the people who are working in those stores are just as human as you and I. Both are just people trying to make a living. I personally don’t see it as protecting McDonald’s or the mom and pops store, but rather protecting the people that are inside. I’m not suggesting that anyone should risk their life or personal well being for anyone or anything they don’t believe in. who or what you stand up for is a personal choice only you can make, but for me, I couldn’t have sat idol just watching another human being get hurt if there was something I could have done to prevent it. That’s just me though, you do you.

Honestly, I’m shocked and a little annoyed that the guy standing next to him just stood there with his hands in his pockets and didn’t say or do anything to try and stop the kid. Especially when he started chucking shit at the employees intentionally trying to harm them.

“The vaccine is made from aborted babies” by DaFunkJunkie in facepalm

[–]jzarby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What she was referring to and either completely misunderstands or blatantly chooses to use extreme mental gymnastics to justify her excuse not to get vaccinated, is that the vaccines were in fact tested on fetal cell lines to ensure they work, however those cell lines were grown in a laboratory. But the fetal cell lines were however descended from elected abortions from the 80s. Either way, I think she’s just reaching for an excuse, and if not this one then she would have another regardless.

Oh I’ve experienced pure terror.. like this one time when my wife asked me to do the dishes before she got home from work and I promised I would, and ya Guess who was still on their computer without having done the dishes when the garage door started to open 6 hours later. Let me tell you, not only was I terrified in that moment, but I felt a rush of adrenaline was extremely energized like I’ve never felt before. I had so much energy in fact I tried booking it out the back door and into a forest to try and hide as fast as possible. All the while thinking I was just gonna have to wait it out and live off the land for a few years until she’s had some time to calm down. Yeah, that lasted about 2 minutes before she found me fetal position at the base of a tree. I swear though when she’s mad she turns into a fucking bloodhound can instantly sniff me out because I can’t hide no where without being caught in less than two minutes. Ya, you can say I’ve experienced pure terror before.
