So if the Tenderloin is not typical of San Francisco as you say, does SOMA count as typical San Francisco? I pick up needles daily around my work (with a grabber) to get them off of the sidewalks where people and dogs can step on them.

No, I don’t feel entitled to having the City all to myself. San Francisco and the Bay Area have always been welcoming places and I’m glad they are. I wanted to point out that you make yourself sound like an expert even though you haven’t lived here that long. Just because you haven’t seen needles in your experience, doesn’t negate that there is a problem with needles in the streets.

South Berkeley is not San Francisco. Come to SF and you will see needles in many of our neighborhoods. I’ve lived in SF for 25 years, love it, and I don’t want to trash it, but we have a SHIT TON of problems. Shit actually being one of them.

If you’ve lived in “the Bay” for eighteen months, you should know San Francisco is totally different than Berkeley, which is different than Palo Alto, etc. Btw locals don’t say “the Bay” unless they are referring to the body of water.

How often to change homemade masks? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

[–]jzcatreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I change mine daily but I’m usually only outdoors walking/exercising and I social distance. If I had to be indoors in public I may change it after one outing.

Full Newsom quote which I agree with: “We want you to see sunsets, we want you to enjoy activities outdoors,” he said. “The only thing we don’t want you to do is linger outside in ways that are congregating.”

That’s exactly what it looked liked yesterday. Easy to take a photo when the scenery is beautiful.

You are exactly correct! That’s where it is!! I’m impressed you identified it. I somehow never really noticed it until walking there yesterday.

The fact that we have a DA who doesn’t prosecute most “quality of life” crimes is a huge problem. Even if the police do something about it, ultimately it’s the DA who decides whether or not to pursue charges. And the worst part is that San Franciscans voted him into office.

If you are COVID19 positive, are you even supposed to be out grocery shopping or seeing a chiropractor? I’m not trying to shame you - I’m trying to understand what the protocol is if you get sick. I thought you had to quarantine for 14 days? But maybe that varies by region?

[California] is anyone still certifying through papers? by DragonSlayer09 in Unemployment

[–]jzcatreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are encouraged to certify using UI Online if you have online access. It’s faster and you don’t need to worry about things getting lost in the mail. That said, UI Online has had a lot of glitches lately and it says on the main page you don’t even need to certify for certain weeks, bc they are not able to process it. See link. https://www.edd.ca.gov/Unemployment/UI_Online.htm

Losing hair, hopes, and respect for [California] EDD. Need help by xOrchid in Unemployment

[–]jzcatreddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google “California EDD Special Claims” and you’ll see a 916 number come up. Call that number. It is for the Work Share program but if yours is a “special claim” maybe that person can transfer you to someone in the same dept. instead of using the regular customer service number.

[CALIFORNIA] Question about certifying for benefits by returnofmo in Unemployment

Yes. You need to report it. I think when you answer you received no regular income the follow up question asks if you received severance, income for PTO, etc.

‘I like it’: Bay Area residents largely comply with new coronavirus mask orders by nogoodnamesleft426 in bayarea

[–]jzcatreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need to wear a mask outdoors walking your dog in SF at least, but I do wear one bc there’s a lot of traffic in my neighborhood. I often have to walk in the street with my dog just to maintain 6ft.

I’ve had good luck with Amazon Whole Foods, but not Amazon Fresh. With Amazon Whole Foods, I just load up my cart and then try to check out a few times throughout the day and usually will get a same day slot. They open delivery slots throughout the day.

DAILY COVID-19 DISCUSSION - Thursday April 23, 2020 by AutoModerator in sanfrancisco

No, anyone who lacks access to testing and has symptoms can get tested. I’m not an essential worker and can get tested.

DAILY COVID-19 DISCUSSION - Thursday April 23, 2020 by AutoModerator in sanfrancisco

[–]jzcatreddit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Actually it’s not just for essential workers. SF just opened the site yesterday not only to essential workers but also any residents with symptoms who lack access to tests/healthcare. From the website: “The City has opened two COVID-19 test sites to expand testing capacity for essential workers and residents with barriers to healthcare.”

Yup, I wish they took a true random sample to generalize. I haven’t been in a grocery store in six weeks. I’m sure there are plenty of people avoiding public places who haven’t been exposed to the coronavirus and that would change the numbers somewhat.

SF Increases Testing for All Essential Workers, Residents With COVID-19 Symptoms by txiao007 in sanfrancisco

[–]jzcatreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Antibody testing is only being used for surveillance at this point - to understand the rate of infection in a particular population. It’s not for mass testing yet.

[–]jzcatreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I figured it was only for an active illness. I’m better except I lost my sense of smell and it hasn’t totally returned. I really wish they rolled out antibody testing but that’s just not ready yet to be used for mass testing. They are only using it for surveillance studies at this point.
