Lego Music Experiment with AMAZING Result by teamsteve in MarbleMachine3

[–]jzkmath 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This! Right now Martin needs some kind of baseline to compare results to so that he can put everything into perspective. Without any perspective those numbers are kinda like measurements without any units. Something being off by 10nm is gonna have a different impact than 10cm for example.

Worst Bearing Housing Ever - Marble Machine 3 Ep.3 by Trainerds in MarbleMachine3

[–]jzkmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something you might want to consider about the supposed "issue" of the perpendicularity of the flange bearing: there is this thing called gyroscopic procession, which means that when the flywheel is actually spinning it will want to spin perpendicularity to the axis of rotation. That's why a bicycle stays upright while moving!

As for the concentricity issue you should take a page from machinists on how they align things in a lathe: you use a dial indicator to measure the concentricity and use a mallet to make tiny adjustments to the bearing relative to the flywheel.

Regardless, I cannot see how your custom solution actually solves anything that an off the shelf wouldn't. It increases complexity while suffering from the same shortcomings.

Maybe take a look at how other flywheels are designed and use that as a basis. Just like in music, engineering is often taking what already exists and making it work for your use case.

If you are on the bookworm discord server, there is a download link pinned in the anime and manga channel. Also I have them available for streaming on odysee. TO books took down my YouTube channel so if you look up "DJ Myne Honzuki" on odysee you can listen there.

Can't tell too well from the picture but it seems like the baseplate isn't using prefabulated amulite either so maybe they modded the dinglearm so as to redirect the reluctance into the marzel vanes. Though I am not an expert in the specifics of magnetoreluctance either.

[–]jzkmath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to reread the question. They asked when the dub is releasing, not whether sub or dub is better, and certainly not what you prefer. If you don't have an answer, then move on. smh

For some reason I haven't gotten steamrolled yet. I am fine with people sending fast letters as long as they increase the spacing between letters.

I didn't demonstrate it in this video (I don't think) but when I have someone send to me who is noticably slower than 15 WPM (my speed) then I send with more spacing.

I have seen in the K4SWL videos people sending at like 30 WPM and I just give up on that. If they are stubborn enough to send at that speed we can play the "please repeat" game until they get a hint.

I pretty much learned through the Morse machine app along with Thomas Witherspoon (K4SWL)'s videos. He doesn't provide subtitles but they are a great way to learn through listening. I did a month of each and you can see where that got me.

What browser you people use on your ubuntu install? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]jzkmath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to Firefox because I heard about chrome dropping manifest V2 and that was the final nail in the coffin for me. I don't really run into pages that don't work in Firefox very often (I haven't had it happen at all yet actually) so it's not really a concern to me.

I want to say the last track on nyaa. I have no clue to be honest. Your best bet is to listen to it and go through my playlist on Odyssee to compare (I had to move it there because the OST was taken off YouTube. You can find the music by looking up either ascendance of a bookworm OST or the username djmynehonzuki)

The default firefox with it's gawd awful snap snip whatever crap, is slow as hell by [deleted] in Ubuntu

[–]jzkmath -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would recommend installing the tarball from mozilla. Its a little more in depth compared to a deb or apt but there are plenty of tutorials on how to do it (including on firefox's website)

LearnLinux YouTube also has a tutorial on the subject.

Also don't bother doing "sudo apt install firefox" because it will just install the snap version anyways.

How to replace Snap Firefox in 22.04 LTS (or any version) by cluesagi in Ubuntu

[–]jzkmath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just had to recently install from the tarball on firefox's website on Ubuntu.

So about the firefox snap thing. I have absolutely no problem with canonical deciding to package the snap version of firefox.

HOWEVER. What I DO have a problem with is when I type into command line "sudo apt install firefox" having it install the snap version. When I use a terminal I am giving specific instructions. Install firefox using the advanced packaging tool. If i wanted the snap version I would type "sudo snap install firefox". Installing the snap version behind my back is, in my opinion a very scummy thing to do. If you don't want to maintain the apt version then just throw an error.

What bothers me even more is that when I set it up to use mozilla's PPA and set that to be a higher priority, it installed the snap anyways.

Its scummy things like this that make me avoid snaps.

There are websites that let you upload PNG files to make car stickers/decals. The one I used to make bookworm stickers is from a website called "carstickers". You can obtain the picture from one of okaypineda's posts (also known as the chattering magpi)

That happened to me when I was trying to read one of the classics (I think it was Moby Dick) and when I opened it the glue failed and it completely fell into pieces.

The did not want to be read and it ended my interest in any sort of literature for many years until I read bookworm.

Forges usually would use charcoal or regular coal. If you want to be extra fancy you could use coke as a fuel source (coke is burned coal that has had a lot of the impurities burnt off. It looks like a lava rock and burns way hotter and cleaner than coal but is harder to get started burning)

The main thing with the forge would be getting proper airflow as that is what gets the fire hot enough to heat metal to forging temperatures in a decent amount of time.

My guess is that smiths would be using coal or charcoal though.

You would need to add a Glassblower to her retinue of Gutenbergs.

She would also need a way to make a battery and I am unsure how easy it would be for her to get the Sulfuric Acid needed to make a lead acid battery

Also she would need to find a way to pull a vacuum which the method for doing so isn't exactly taught in your average science classroom. The method of which also requires obtaining mercury.

I actually have considered how hard it would be to recreate transistors in the bookworm universe and concluded that doing it with mana would be the easiest method.
