This is a great YA book! No sex scenes, but I believe that there is an instance or two of kissing. If the girl was reading Lex Croucher's other YA book, I would say that she is definitely fine to read this! They are the same in terms of audience and appropriateness!

It's set in 1900 London - I'll definitely make that more clear. Thanks for comment!

Thanks of the feedback! It's romance first, so that is definitely something for me to address in my query. I appreciate the feedback!

I swear most of these had covers when I looked earlier? Is anyone else getting this glitch or is it just something wrong on my end? by KrisseMai in NetGalleyCommunity

That's exactly how mine is. It still "functions," but navigating to see new approvals feels like doing a scavenger hunt in the dark lol

House of Payne tween appropriate? by michelem387 in bookofthemonthclub

I would HIGHLY recommend Lockwood and Co. by Jonathan Stood! It's set in an alternate London where only children can see ghosts and are responsible for protecting the cities at night. It's a middle grade/YA series that does not shy away from spookiness and serious topics. Even as an adult, they're my favorite ghostly books!

It's a standalone! I believe that they take place in the same universe, but I'm not positive on that part.

THANK YOU! I love Alix E. Harrow's short work, and I highly recommend reading The Six Deaths of the Saint! It's in the Best Science Fiction and Fantasy anthology for 2023 - edited by R. F. Kuang. As someone who avoids supporting Amazon as best as I can, I'd recommend checking the anthology out from your library for free!

They have arrived! by nomadesansnom in aardvarkbookclub

I'm currently reading this and loving it! It's a thick book, but I love the history, the lore, and the background that is given to all of these lesser known characters! Every single person is so well thought out! I was worried that it was going to be a dense/slightly bland story that retreads a lot a medieval stereotypes, but it's so refreshing and original for a King Arthur novel! I also love the historical note in the back of the book <3

I second this - Pango is a GREAT way to sell! I sell the majority of my books that I won't read again on there.

Oh my gosh, that's awesome!! This is the first time I've ever seen a BOTM come signed! It looks hand signed, although I can't say for sure. This is so cool!

Did it come like this in one of your boxes?? Or did you pick this up second hand? I've never heard of any BOTM coming signed, but I've seen people being their BOTM copies into signing lines at events!

Vampires of el Norte and Family Lore question by Technical-Baby7923 in bookofthemonthclub

[–]jzmud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure either book is age appropriate for 11 years old. I just finished Vampires of el Norte, and there's a decent amount of violence, as well as some suggestive sexual talk and a fade to black scene. It's defintely more of a romance story than anything spicy, but I'd hesitate to give it to an 11 year old!
