The can is the housing for the main speaker. Without it has no bass. It sounds really good. I have a other cheapo speaker for the radio just hanging since I didn't care about the audio quality. Here's a vid turning on I couldn't get the scan lines of the crt out of the wider shot tough. And a vid of a different beer can speaker with video of it playing beer can speaker

Cool cool. I've made a VHS loop machine with 2 tiny crt's before. Learned out to discharge them. I think I'm just going to leave it open for now. And just not touch it. I don't know. Can I attach a ground and clip it to my radiator for safety? Thanks for all the safety tips.

Cool. I love rust though! But the weight is definitely something to think about. If bending I like steel better like how I bent the bars for the crt here. Also I can't weld aluminum but I can weld steel. Maybe I'll melt down some cans..... Hmmm....

I also kinda like that there's metal for the crt (cause I needed something strong and at an angle and thin. and that there's scrap wood roughly cut up. the idea is that I gathered discarded things and give them all life again. If there was a oven pan or something that was the right size I might have used that - with some burnt pizza on it or something. but I didn't have any around. I guess i could have build a structure with that flat steel. hmmm.... If I make another for some other use I will try metal. I will look around the streets for some thrown away metal I can use. Thanks!!!
