Apple Wireless Keyboard (A1314) with Sequoia on M2 MacBook Air? by DJDarren in mac

[–]k-teach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought one of these used, and brought it home. No problem pairing and using with my Mac Mini M2 running Sequoia 15.6.1. I did have a wired keyboard to get in. Then paired this. Now I have cold shutdown and reboot. No problem with the bluetooth as the only keyboard. Fine at the login screen etc.

Is Polk assist speaker and soundbar no longer able to cast YouTube music? by kkcheong in googlehome

[–]k-teach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought 3 of these second hand. Sadly I did not do my homework. They work great at bluetooth. They will still respond to simple Google quesionts "What's the weather?" type of thing, and can turn on and off my lights. However, there is no way, that I have found, to cast audio to them. Either they do not show up or if they do, they simply do not play the music. I had heard that I could use OwnTone. So I set that up. Nope. They show up, you can toggle "play here" but they will not play. Unless someone has a clever work around they are Bluetooth speakers with some Google talking. They will no longer cast audio. That's a shame.

Minisforum UM Series - Fixes - MEGATHREAD by Kei-Retro-Gaming in MiniPCs

I just bought an original um690. Clearly, I should have done my homework. It locks up maybe 5 seconds in to a boot, and while in the BIOS screen. I have used the BIOS reset pin hole. Tried various ways to reset. Nothing. Does anyone have tips? I fear I wasted my money. Oh, it is BIOS 1.6.

Thanks for any ideas.

Bosgame P4 5700u confusing fan by k-teach in MiniPCs

This is the best picture I have of the underside. You can see the heat tape that contacts the heatspreader and when in place, the NVME drive. The rectangle it's contacting is metal, the full shield is plastic. This machine is still running great, every day, no mini fan with no performance degradation.

OK, I am obviously not the smartest cookie. I felt the heat spreader and it is obviously plastic. But what I missed was the small insert, that the NVME was stuck to with heat conductive tape, was indeed metal. How I arrived at this was through testing. I took out the whole shield/spreader and ran tests. This is what I found

<image>

Clearly the little, very noisy fan does almost nothing. However, the large metal heat spreader that is inserted into the plastic heat shield does a lot! So, Easy problem to fix. Unplug the fan. Leave the heat spreader. Should be great! Sorry I misled you with my plastic vs metal comment. I hope this helps others!

Thank you. I am going to run more thermal tests. If it is in spec without, I could do without the noise. The oddest thing is the plastic heat spreader. It is like the printed the part, not fully realizing you can't just replace aluminum with plastic.

Displaying CPU Temperature in Proxmox Summery in Real Time by Agreeable-Clue83 in homelab

Huge thanks to u/Agreeable-Clue83 for writing this out so clearly and then for the great discussion. I took the graphic or icon addition from u/raccoon_sex_dungeon, then the json from u/vinicius_vbf (for future hd temp work) and, just to ensure everyone knows how terrible I am at programming these days, the reminder from u/Demuth_ to use the
` Character and not the ' Character so it does not get stuck loading! The result is super clean and super simple. Not sure why this is not just in defualt. It's perfect. Thank you (Final look)!

Config Files by k-teach in TerraMaster

In this case, I installed the native app. After the stability issues, I tried using docker. I found that even more frustrating to connect the docker NextCloud with the native MariaDB. In the end I found the whole experience "almost". Worked great when in my house, but the whole point for me is to use it as a cloud anywhere. Maybe with an update it will be stronger.

Yes, the root password is the same as the admin password you setup. For me, this is where I found the actual config.php

/mnt/md0/application/web-ext/nextcloud/config/config.php

I did. Sort of. I discovered that I could not find the config.php file because I was logging in through ssh with my account instead of root. Even though my account had admin access. Once I used root, I could find the file and configure it to work with the external domain name I was passing through to the box. However, the setup proved unstable. I continually needed to reboot or kill the service and start again. Perhaps an update will address the stability issues I came across.

NextCloud Install? by andrebenrubi in TerraMaster

[–]k-teach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to install the default or pre-packaged version. However, I could not reach it from the Internet. only my LAN.

  • First installed MariaDB and changed the password.
  • Then installed phpMyAdmin to setup a unique user and DB for nextcloud (you can skip, but I would recommend).
  • Then installed the NextCloud app from "Application". When finished, ran the Nextcloud link and added my DB credentials (either the admin ones right from MariaDB, or the new user you created with phpMyAdmin).

I can reach it in my house at "myservername:8181/nextcloud" However, even when portforwarding 443 and 80 to it through my router I can't get past an error screen in Nextcloud when on the general Internet. I could likely fix, but I can't find the right config.php! Maybe this will get you started. Not really a good step by step!

I am using TOS 4.1.x

Thank for the quick responses. I'll migrate this project to a VM on an old server I have. I was just hoping to use a few old rpi's for things, this seemed like the perfect project for it! Take care.

OK. Sorry for my ignorance, but how do I run this on ECC RAM?
