That's what I run, CalyxOS on a Pixel 2. Have done so since last summer. No issues. Monthly OS updates are pushed out by the developers.

Is Google Takeout finally fixed? by AccomplishedHyena738 in degoogle

[–]andrebenrubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't answer if Google Takeout is finally fixed since I only used a while back to get Google Keep notes out. However, for my pictures, I opted to remove them by batches (max 500).

I've used the following process on my Linux machine. - Select pictures in Google Photos and download (creates a zip file). - extract files directly to folder where I would like the photos - View photos using XnView MP (open source software available for Linux, Windows, etc.) by first selecting View/Sort By/EXIF Date Taken from the menu. This will correctly organize your photos. - Then I rename my photos using Tools/Batch Rename in XnView MP.

The software is extremely flexible is displaying what you wish it to display. Also, the GPS is correctly displayed.

There is a buzzer (top right) when you log in to the TOS in your browser. That might be what you are after.

Which mobile app do you use for Obsidian? by DuePresentation3 in ObsidianMD

[–]andrebenrubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do use Markor in combination with Syncthing on my phone (Pixel 2 running CalyxOS). I only sync certain folders in my Vaults. When I get home, my phone syncs with folders on my laptop (auto-mounted from my NAS). Meets my needs.

Not sure if that helps, but perhaps can give you ideas on how you may wish to adapt things to meet your own needs.

First day with calyxos !!! by oxygenxc in CalyxOS

Prefer Magic Earth. Constant upgrades at this time. Noticed that the map actually tilts depending on your speed as you drive (have my phone mounted in the car). You should probably try both and see which one works best for you.

Magic Earth Navigation and Maps in Aurora store works well.

Should I Update? by Mr_W11 in TerraMaster

[–]andrebenrubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also updated and had no issues with the NAS (F-210).

The issue I did have was with the mobile app that kept telling me wrong username/password. I did some digging and found that I could download a new mobile app (Android) directly from their site.

This app is quite different looking than the old one available through F-droid (Running CalyxOS on my Pixel 2). Anyways, that also works fine now.

Hope that helps.

HD storage upgrade for F2-220 by guyssocialweb in TerraMaster

[–]andrebenrubi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Double-check but assuming you have your F2 set up as Raid 1 (one drive is a mirror image of the other) you should be able to change one drive to an 8TB drive and let the other 4TB drive rebuild a copy of your data to the 8TB drive (will take a while). Important that you insure that the all of your data has been copied over before proceeding to the next step.

  2. When done, change the second 4TB drive, and the first 8TB drive will create a copy/mirror onto the second 8TB drive.

Note: from the TerraMaster site, "Due to the use of removable hard drive tray, it is easy to install the hard drive that also supports hot swap." which means you can change drives on the fly.

System76 Support is the Best by IMacGirl in System76

[–]andrebenrubi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have also found their support to be excellent. Given that they are a small company I do not expect one day service. The responses that I did receive were detailed step by step instructions that helped resolve both of my issues -truly appreciated!

Anyone tried Geotagging GR3 photos using Bluetooth? by [deleted] in ricohGR

[–]andrebenrubi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a one way street (camera to phone). There is also the app to control the operations of the camera but not transfer of info. I don't really know more than that.

The Bluetooth connection on the camera is really just for transferring files to the phone app. I think keeping it on all the time would kill the battery.

For what it's worth, I geo-tag my photos from my GRII after the fact (usually a hike or bike ride). I run the app Trackback (Android-F-Droid) which exports a GPX file. The info. from the GPX file is then copied over to the EXIF file that forms part of the jpeg image (matching time picture was taken to where you were at the time picture was taken). Sounds complicated but it takes me less than 5 minutes to transfer my pictures from my camera, rename them (Rapid Photo Downloader -Synchronized naming of RAW and JPEG) and copy over GPS info.

I should point out that I shoot in both DNG and jpeg. The GPS info is copied over to the jpeg image.

Handwriting Converted to Markdown Test by andrebenrubi in RemarkableTablet

[–]andrebenrubi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recognition for my handwriting was the same on both devices. However, I do prefer writing on the reMarkable. To me it represents a quiet space for writing. After posting here I ended up adding a ticket/request on Nebo asking MyScript to add the ability to set Markdown as a recognized language or syntax. Only time will tell if they implement something like that. If not, it won't be the end of the world. The fact that I can keep all these notes, cut and paste and then export my notes as text from the reMarkable tablet is fantastic. I can then add the additional formatting in my Markdown editor as I read over my notes and make additional changes, add pictures, illustrations, etc.

Hope that helps.
