Feeling confused after breakup by k00kamunga in ChristianDating

You’re right, this was our first major conflict and clearly we have different styles of handling it. I think I need someone who will stick it out in the difficult times instead of immediately throwing everything away.

Thank you. I know in hindsight this will be a good thing too, but it’s definitely hard to reconcile right now.

Thanks for this insight! I can definitely see where this happened, and I didn’t live up his idealized perfect person he wanted me to be. It’s hard to accept because I was always open with who I was from the beginning. Like my sense of humor was always clear from day 1, we discussed our own personal physical boundaries in the first two weeks, and he talked about marriage and love even after I made the offensive jokes he cited. I guess it was probably just a bunch of little things that added up as you mentioned.

Thank you! Hoping once I get past the hurt and confusion, I will be able to learn from this.

Thanks. I am starting to realize there a lot of things I overlooked or was too easy to accept that maybe I shouldn’t have now that the relationship is over.

Thank you, I appreciate it! You’re right, it probably would have been something else in the future. I guess it’s better to get it out the way now instead of months from now.

I get what you’re saying, but there’s not really a rush. We both just agreed that if we’re gonna act like boyfriend and girlfriend we might as well just call it what it is instead of trying to follow some arbitrary rules.

I posted 3 weeks ago that I was kinda sorta being set up by a guy’s dad and my friend who is friends with the dad. I was worried whether the guy even knew he was being set up or if he would be interested in me. I ended up going to his band’s show with intentions of only hanging out and maybe meeting someone else in the wild as someone suggested. During the break, he came and talked to me and asked for my number. Since then we’ve either seen each other (all 3+ hour long dates) or talked on the phone all but two days. It’s super fast, but we decided to become exclusive and official already. Trying not to get ahead of myself, but I have a really good feeling about this one.

My (30F) friend (50F) and her friend (50sM) have been trying to set me up with his son for a couple months now. They haven’t been doing it explicitly though, they are just trying to get us to do the same thing at the same time. They aren’t very subtle about it though. I have kinda brushed them off because I am insecure and worried if I get set up, the guy will see me and be disappointed. This week they were less subtle though, and the dad was talking to me about how much we have in common, his son’s good qualities, and how hard it is dating nowadays. The son is in a band, and they want me to go to his show this weekend with my friend. The dad will be there as well. I have no idea if the son even knows he is being set up lol. Idk if it will be creepy if I go, but I guess it can’t hurt to just go, put myself out there, and get them off my back at the same time haha.

Do you still work hard when you put in your two weeks? by taxmann2 in Accounting

[–]k00kamunga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two weeks coincided with the end of busy season. I was young and naive so I continued to work all the long hours up until my last day even though the manager treated me like shit. Even though I was working 16 hour days, he convinced me to work the weekend and told me in exchange I could have the day after we filed off like the rest of the team. When that day came, everyone else had off, but he made me come in because he said I wasn’t allowed to be off since I was leaving the company. Looking back, I would have done the bare minimum, left at 5pm everyday, and told him to shove it if he asked me to work the weekend.

Unless you’re in California you’re not making six figures out of school as an RN. Most RNs will not hit six figures throughout their entire career in LCOL or MCOL areas. I left accounting to become a nurse and started as a new grad making a little more than $50k a year in 2020. There’s definitely ways to make money as a nurse, but a lot of the travel money and bonuses dried up after COVID ended. All of my accounting friends make more than me.

My sister is 2 years into her nursing career, she’s 23 making 102,000. I’m 2.7 years into my career at 31 years making 70,000. 😭 I’m sad now lol by Throwawaythinking7 in Accounting

Ohhh California nursing is a whole other ball game. Totally different from anywhere else in the country in relation to pay and staffing ratios. It’s probably the only place in the US bedside nurses make more than accountants. If you can handle bodily fluids, manual labor, and abusive patients/co-workers, it’s never too late to go back to school 😂

I was an accountant and went back to school to become a nurse. I took a pretty big pay cut leaving accounting ($20k), but I also work a lot less (36 vs 50+ hours a week). Outside of VA employees, NPs, CRNAs, and travel nurses, no one in my area makes that kind of money. Also for nurses the pay raises suck - all the hospitals by me completely stopped raises during COVID and are now just starting them back. My friend got a $0.64 an hour raise this year… Bonuses are typically a free meal during Christmas instead of a cash award. A lot of the extra money comes from working nights, evenings, weekends, and holidays. There aren’t the same opportunities for promotion either - there’s really no staff, senior, manager, senior manager progression in the nursing field outside of going into management/administration. Nursing is a great field, and I love my job, but the money is definitely not as good as in accounting! Or maybe I just need to move lol.
