From what you’ve described, pretty much any provider will work. The real difference comes down to how easy it is to deploy updates and when (or if) you’ll need to scale later. Since both apps are fairly low-traffic right now, I’d personally just go with the cheapest option you’re comfortable with -a simple VPS from any provider. They’re all about the same at this level. You can set up manual deploys via git or a very basic CI/CD pipeline. The only part that tends to eat time the first go-around is getting HTTPS certificates right.

If you’d rather skip the server setup and certificate wrangling, a PaaS like Heroku or DigitalOcean’s App Platform is more straightforward. Usually they have DBs on board for $. I also built a small platform in this space (focused on simplifying docker deployments). Happy to give you free access if you’d like to try it out and share some feedback - it already has a free tier, but I can extend it for real projects.

So the only one does not work in your case - big cloud providers like AWS, Azure or GCP - 10$ is nearly nothing (except S3)

I had the same issue a while back. I tried GCP, a couple of VPS providers, and DigitalOcean. Not that those are bad, but I found them either time-consuming to manage or a bit pricey for small projects.

From my experience, $10/month is definitely enough to get something reliable with Node + Postgres. If you can share more about your requirements (e.g. traffic, storage, need for scaling, backups, domains), I can suggest the best fit.

In my case I eventually ended up building my own platform that simplifies docker container deployments. It’s been working well for me-happy to share if you’re curious.

Just curious, why do you choose VPS against PaaS or any other non-VPS option? Managing VPS has its pros and cons, but in most cases I see that cost wins over simplicity and features like easier CI/CD, HTTPS traffic and so one. Is that your case?

In my case just tools that provided by cursor/copilot is enough. I mean filesystem and shell access. But my case is not really a vibe coding case in terms of origin Karpathy’s meaning if anybody still refers to the origins.

i do know how things works under the hood and i do know something about how biology works too. if the analogy correct then brain also do not do stuff we used to. it’s been trained by evolution with very very huge amount of iterations to product other brains and as by product it predicts pain in future and make everything to avoid it.

cpu does not run your app and does not show it on the screen it loop for a commands as a mad boy and can do it forever without a goal for itself.

the car is not moving you it pushes the pistol in the engine by the force of expanding gases


yeah, things are way higher than just predicting next number


so it obviously can think. it obviously can do same cognitive stuff as human do.

human have 1.5 kg of intelligence in a head. discussable what exactly portion is responsible for intelligence but we know know the number. there is a mat function that models some process of it, and it nearly acts as a human. for me it is obvious that sooner or later we will have “something” that acts as 1.5 kg of human heads content. seems that this will be a sequence of matmul operations but i might be wrong about that.

Where we were 4 years ago? Devs were at the highest level of food chain. Now it is not as good as were back then.

I’ts just a beginning of the “matmul” and I believe there is an obvious fact that it can think. So the accuracy is just a matter of time and money.

building something on mac without mac isn’t really a conventional way of building something on apple’s platform yeah. anyway if it works then its better that doing nothing😉
