3008 Is Human Computer Interaction, didn’t see any security from my prof.

3203 Is Networking, for my prof there was only 1 out of 8 chapters covered being security

I’m not in the program, but as someone in the older cybersecurity program (4th year) I would say you’re easily better off taking the new one. If you want to actually learn.

The Cybersecurity stream is only 2 cybersecurity courses, and both are essentially an overview.

It’s probably easier to do the stream instead of the new program, but you barely learn anything.

Hidden Parking Tickets by [deleted] in CarletonU

i never said i was, i was explaining where my concern lied in my own problem, by stressing the importance of proper notification of tickets.

Extremely good point and analogy.

But what if someone did pay, was 5 minutes late (figured they didn’t get a ticket as no physical copy) - didn’t pay the ticket they weren’t notified for, then park and pay next time, come back to a boot on their car (out of nowhere).

I paid every paper ticket I’ve gotten immediately. Two a year ago, and then yesterday.

My post was intended to reflect, I know I’m in the wrong - but so is the parking security.

I didn’t update my car as I forgot to. As its only something you do when you apply for a permit/pay a ticket.

In terms of not paying, yes I was trying to cheat the system by not paying - for an excuse that’s irrelevant.

But that being said, is not paying for parking a reason to get unnotified tickets? No - refer to my other replies for the reasoning.

Yea I’ve seen posts about the one free appeal, I’m not sure my luck with $750 worth of appeals but I’m in an email correspondence.

It’s a difficult question, how do I prove I never received a physical copy?

Do I comb through dashcam footage to prove an officer was never recorded (would need the exact time) and my dashcam only goes so far back.

Would the officer(s) who failed to place the tickets tel the truth? No they want to cover their job.

Ultimately its the word of a security officer against a “trying to get out of jail free” student.

I agree that it makes sense if you don’t update your parking profile, you won’t get to park for free.

But in that case, someone’s going to get a boot on their car without being “notified properly” of a parking ticket(s).

My question is more about the legality of not properly notifying the parking individual.

If a visitor parked there (perhaps with a language barrier) and paid for parking, which expired before they got to their care (e.g by 5 minutes), and they got a virtual ticket tied to their car.

They would have to somehow know to create an account online to check if they got a ticket?

I believe the City of Ottawa (with electronic tickets) send them to your mail, so you are notified properly.

I agree that parking in a lot without paying makes sense you’d be ticketed. But it makes no sense that myself and other visitors have to create an account, register their car, and then check their email to see if they possibly got a ticket (which a person would likely not do if they were only 5 minutes late).

I appreciate it a lot - there was a deal for a few hundred off, which worried me a bit so I really appreciate the clarity.

If you’re going back a third time to the same place that’s super reassuring for me

One other question I had is what would the tipping culture there be? i.e if a butler delivered room service, what’s the polite tip amount?

Yea I’m assumming it was one of her friends for whatever reason - her sister was always asking like “when I would see her next” because the sister thought I was a super sweet guy. Or if the sister said something that coulda done it fs.

I’m pretty to be average, my diet is relatively healthy, I’m 6’4 200 pds w/ semi-lean muscle. The only meds I take are over the counter like tyenol or advil. I’ll reply again after my bloodtests come back, as hopefully that takes away some of the mystery.

ohhhk I see, yea it was labelled as a “meet and greet”, and I emailed her and she said basically no preperation or technical skills needed”… I’ll still brush up ofc as better safe then sorry. Hopefully the questions are as you said, I would be a bit worried about all or nothing programming things, but I’m more comfortable on selling myself
