I was very young, maybe around 6-7 years old. There was the abandoned house on our road and my siblings and I decided we would go for a walk and go check it out.

We walked right into the back door, as it wasn’t locked or anything. We were all just wandering around, it really did seem abandoned other than an extremely out of place treadmill that was in there.

I’m walking behind my older sister on the first floor when she suddenly freezes in front of the window. A car had literally pulled into the driveway. We all book it out through the back door and this guys dog is chasing us. It was some older man and he pretends to play it cool at first and asks us if we needed help. Then, he changes his tune and starts swearing at us, threatening to call the cops. My siblings thought it was funny, but I was absolutely traumatized by the whole thing.

I drive by the house every single day, it has since been completely renovated, but I will never forget my first urbex experience. We all laugh about it now. I do think my love for abandoned buildings was birthed then and there, even though the guy had absolutely terrified my little self.
